| | | Strange question Hello Ladies
Just curious about something. I've been going through Peri for quite
sometime now and for the past few months noticed something unusual. This
is a bit embarrassing and a bit graphic, but I need to know if this is
normal. Whenever I have sex now it seems my vagina has this strange
sensation. My husband and I might only have sex once a week. I mean it
feels as if I've had sex all day and all night, like as if it's worn out
from doing it so much, but yet I haven't had it in a week. I hope this
made sense because I have no other way of explaining this. I don't know
if this is normal or if I need to tell my GYN doctor.

It sounds like you have some vaginal dryness and even with using lube you
can still get that sore "worn out" feeling after sex. Have you tried Replens
at all? Anyone here try it? I've thought about it when I get really dry but
generally I just tolerate it.

I've never tried it. I actually didn't know what was wrong with me. This
was something new to me.

Kath, I've seen this complaint often on the Cushing's board. Elevated
cortisol causes skin thinning, but inside and out, and a lot of vaginal
tearing, shedding and pain occurs in women with Cushing's disease.

Susan, I looked over my lab work the other day and my cortisol is within
the normal range. My Endo doctor checks this about every 6 months. BUT,
could my cortisol fluctuate and he's missing this?

So was mine, last summer, while I was in the midst of an Addisonian
crisis with hypokalemia and bp of 90/50.

The literature I've been reading says that tumors cycle on and off
anywhere from `12 hours to 85 days. That explains why most Cushing's
patients have to test for several months to years prior to getting a
diagnosis. There's one doc in Seatle who admits patients, and tests
stuff every hour or two for a week, urine, serum, saliva, etc. I had to
fly from NY to LA to find an endo to order serum, saliva and urine
testing I can do at home for as long as it takes. I'm told he's the
most accurate of all the endos in the U.S. at determining the locations
and types of tumors.

No, cortisol is a stress hormone. And is often accompanied by
aldosteronism. I have to take a high dose of time released potassium
twice per day for bp, which stays very low normal as long as I take it.

Nor do I. Just that pesky tumor and thickened adrenal.

There are no helpful, knowledgable endos in NY wrt Cushing's. That's
why I went to LA. It was that or Seattle.

That's what I thought you said before when you said anywhere from 12
hours to 85 days. So mine would fluctuate.
My bp is always high though. I thought if it were Cushing's that the bp
would be low. I also don't have the buffalo hump. I will be seeing my
Endo sooner than I was originally suppose to see him because of the
increased hair loss - not sure if he will do anything for it though - at
least it's not extreme.
I'm in NY as well.

I tried it and it gave me a rash. It was expensive, and it didn't help all
that much. Surgical lubricant, though messy, is cheaper, more effective,
and sterile so it doesn't give me a rash.
