| | | Vitamins to Combat Urinary Frequency? Recently, I seem to have developed a problem with urinary frequency,
especially at night. I am 55 years old and my periods stopped about 5
years ago. I do not have a bladder infection and am looking for a
natural supplement(s) to alleviate the symptoms.
I have been researching this online and the results have been
confusing.
Has anyone taken vitamins like C, D, and/or B for urinary frequency?
If so, what dosage worked for you?
What about soy supplements?
Thanks for your comments and feedback.

Have you checked your blood glucose levels? Urinary frequency can be a
sign of high blood sugar levels, and this is a prime time of life to be
diagnosed with diabetes.

I will check with my doctor, as I have a call in to make an
appointment with her later this week.
What other signs are there of an elevated blood glucose level?
I am 5'5 and weigh 122lbs, eat a healthy, low fat diet, and my
cholesterol and blood pressure are both excellent.

Any time I have bladder or urge discomfort, I take high dose cranberry
extract capsules and a lot of water. Gets rid of it every time.
I frequently have red blood and non renal epithelial cells in my urine
without infection cultured, but that seems to be common with high cortisol.

What would be considered a "high dose" of cranberry extract capsules?
I knew that drinking cranberry juice was good for a bladder infection,
but didn't know there were capsules and that it would help urinary
frequency.

Nope, I didn't try anything for that problem. But like many peri-meno
problems, it self-resolved after a couple of years. (At the height of it, I
was getting up 4 - 5 times/night to pee.)

I do the same with lots of water to flush. Drink 2 L/day if there's bladder
concerns.
My cranberry capsules are 9000 mg to be taken twice daily and if I sense any
urgency/ frequency I take 3-4/day and within 1-2 days I'm fine. Really
should get into a habit of taking one/day as a preventative.Does anyone here
do that, or would that daily exposure reduce the effectiveness over time?

If the juice is sweetened, you're feeding the bacteria like ducks on a
pond. :-)
I take two or three highly concentrated cranberry extract capsules a
couple of times per day as needed. It prevents bacteria from adhering
to bladder tissue.

From the top of my head: cranberry extract probs contain a lot of vit.
C. Vit C is an acid and makes the urine a bin more asic, more than the
bacs like. Vit. C does wonders against my bladder infections.

I don't think resistance should be a problem; the extract prevents
adhesion, it isn't antibiotic.

I called my local health food store and will stop by today to pick up
the cranberry capsules.
By the way, I did some side research online and found that cranberries
do have a proven ablity to aid in UTI.
Thanks again for all your feedback and help.

Yes, and I can add to that, burning or tingling in feet and/or hands,
bloating after eating, sleepiness or grogginess after eating, all over
itchiness, particularly at night, intermittently blurrier vision, to
name a few. Also, feeling hungry soon after eating.
Or none of the above, at least early on.

| | | Re: Vitamins to Combat Urinary Frequency? Not to mention feeling tired or completely worn out...like just going to the
store is a chore. I used to get yeast infections under my armpits and
breasts...that's when my sister (an RN) told me to go get checked for
diabetes.
