Default vulvodynia cure - my story

hi all,

I hope this message gives you hope and help some of you get rid of
vulvadynia.

I had trouble with vulvadynia and pelvic pain for 4 years.

Now I'm totally healthy and I have been like that for the past 2
years, which makes me think the treatment was for good.

Here is a summary of my story and the treatment that worked for me:

* Oct 2002 - I started with what seemed to be a candidiasis. Several
ovule prescriptions, none worked. Got Chlamydia positive and took
azythromicin.

* 2003, 2004 - My condition kept worsening, and I was prescribed more
and more antibiotics including oxytomicin, erithromycin, metronidazol
and a bunch more.

* Jul 2004 - I started with the pill

* Aug 2004 - I had sex with no condom and it started burning like
hell. The pain went away after a month. Doctors said it was a semen
allergy. I kept having sex with condom.

* Dic 2004 - I had sex again with no condom and it started buring like
hell again. This time the pain didn't go away.

* Feb 2005 - after visiting several gynecologist, a colposcopist
diagnosed papiloma NIC II lesions that had to be removed right away. I
also went on Imiquimod for the vulva. The vulvitis and pain became
unbearable. I could not wear panties, or pant, or skirts. I had to
go on tunicas and dresses with no panties. I had to stay home on
weekends and some week days just to rest from the pain.

* Mar 2005 - got a cryosurgery. the burning went worse.

* Mar - Aug 2005 - I could not wear panties. I could not work, or
have sex, or sometimes just sit. I cried a lot.

* Aug 2005 - got a lasser surgery for papiloma since the lession was
still there.

* 2005-2006 - got several other treatments for papiloma. Gynecologist
or Gastroenterologist couldn't find the source of the pain.

* May 2006 - I started seeing an urologist-gynecologist. She
inmediatly told me that the source of my pain was urinary. And she
was right, and took it away!

* Oct 2006 - No pain. I'm so happy now!

The diagnose for me was: hyperactive bladder.

The Dr. said that my bladder is neurologically semi-disconnected from
my brain, so sometimes she's trying to urinate and the rest of my body
doesn't know. Urethra is closed so the bladder gets swollen. And it
makes utherus and colon swollen too.

The candidiasis and papiloma treatments also affect the bladder and
swollen it. And some infections go from one place to the other.
Antibiotics also change the urine PH making it possible for bacteria
to grow.

So the pain was that of having a urinary tract infection all the
time. Some times there was an infection, othertimes it was just the
symptoms.

Any way, the cure was:
- get off antibiotics
- start taking a nefryl (oxibutinina - armstrong laboratories) - a
urinary tract relaxant
- take cranberry juice to prevent urinary infections
- start taking parlodel (because apparently some urinary problems are
related to prolactine, a hormone I was producing more than I should)

Now I have had 2 years with no pain, I could wear pants again, and
skirts and my panties. And I have great sex and a great life.

The good thing about the experience is that I enjoy life so much
more.

I wish you all luck and that you all find the correct treatment for
each of you.

Hope my story helps some of you get off this horrible and painful
disease ASAP and you return back to your lives and enjoy them as it
should be!

Thanks a lot to this forum! Adita.

well, it's not prurient, I just don't like them. I wouldn't wear a bra
either if I could get away with it. Panties, I really dislike. never had a
problem except once when my period started unexpectedly and I had to
approach my son's school vice principal with blood pouring down my
leg.....short dress and all. I took my jacket off to protect my car
seat.....now that periods are done, I can go dancing in the short dresses
without concern!

Hmmm... You never have discharge? I'll never forget one pantyless girl's
skirt as she got up from her seat: A very characteristic diamond-shaped
wet spot was on the back of her skirt.

That's exactly what I was wondering - normal discharge.

Not to mention wearing jeans with no underwear; sounds uncomfortable to
me...

I seem to have less discharge now, I go dancing and it's not a problem; but
my office chair? I sit on a towel sometimes.

I don't wear jeans. I wear yoga pants, they are VERY comfortable with no
underwear. Jeans are uncomfortable with or without underwear, ack. they have
always been, even before I developed the neuropathy a couple of years ago.
Yoga pants are great; I bowl in them, do volunteer work in them, shoot pool
in them, etc. cheap too.

men with buttonflys and nothing underneath though; THAT kind of jeans I like
(I guess I could have said that the men in my life never wore underwear
either)

Very likely. So many things wander across the North Sea, why not
panties? ;-)

thongs are awful, I can't imagine why anyone invented them.

crotch hammock. crotch sling.

and yes, I like male attire.
but not underwear.

In the UK, "underpants" would suggest they were male attire (men buy
"underpants", "boxer shorts" or "jockstraps"), whereas women's
lingerie are "pants". We'd only say "panties" if we were joking
around. "knickers" is an old fashioned term, but still used.
"bloomers" is a very old fashioned word, and refers to a specific
longer legged baggy garment, not often worn by today's woman.
"undies" is more general and includes underwear for the upper body too.

the two legged outerwear garment for the legs are "trousers" ;-)
"vests" are t-shirt like garments worn under normal clothing for extra
warmth.

The Scots word for "trousers" (US "pants") is "breeks". (or sometimes
"trews", but trews are usually made from tartan cloth)

save trees and money! Go to the library! ;-)

As for underpants/briefs/crotch hammocks, I would use a coarse term but
would offend. I always wear a bra but never anything below. way too
uncomfortable. And then you get VPL!

We use "trousers", too. But trousers indicates a more dressy level than
"pants". And although not 100%, is more often applied to menswear than to
women's dressy pants.

The UK "non-dressy female equivalent" word would be "slacks".

"Slacks" here... hmmm... on the more dressy than not side, re: pants.
