No real change. Just the daily routine of a retired disgruntled postal
worker and his 3 cats.
The oldest, Fluffy, spends a lot of time on my bed, on the heated
blanket. Perhaps too much time. I think she has never recovered from
the absence of her litter mate, Silver. She insists on 15 minutes
after I get into bed to go to sleep, and another 15 minutes when I
wake up, Plus relaxing on the heated pad next to my computer chair, so
as to be cuddled, petted, coddled, adored, and generally made welcome
in my life. But she is so old, and really starting to show it. So
old.
Well, I am getting old myself, and have to get back into a vigorous
exercise program. I let that lapse during my last 10 years at the Post
Office, working the swing shift of 3 PM - Midnight. But now I am
retired, so no more excuses. Last Friday I bought a new pair of Z-Coil
shoes, Unlike the Z-coil boots I wore for the last five years at the
Post Office, these have the coil exposed.
(The Post Office would not allow exposed Z-coil shoes, so I wore a
special Z-coil boot with a hollow heel over the spring. But this heel
was over 1 and a half inches, so the Post Office told me I was wearing
high heels. Oooooo. This after not allowing me to wear my skirt to
work. So I needed a special note from my Podiatrist to wear the Z-coil
boots.)
Today I gave the new shoes their first real test, walking the 1.9
miles from my apartment to the TLC Alano Club for the noon AA meeting.
It took me about 55 minutes, one way. I got a ride back home. During
the 55 minute walk I was able to get in both my daily Rosary and
Divine Mercy Chaplet. The weather was ideal for such a stroll. Not to
mention the sights of a busy main street in Torrance.
To top it all off, today I had my first class of chair Yoga, a mild
form of yoga especially directed towards out of shape senior citizens.
I will be at this class every Monday (except Holidays), 3:30 PM - 5
PM.
