all the time they were merely talking,
i was thinking

all the time they were looking at me
i did not put myself on display
so they saw nothing

the have told me stories, which i did not have the confidence to reject,
if you reject our stories,
we will beat you, they say

i reject their stories and face a beating
am i mighty? no.
i will no doubt be squashed

all i can do is plead for mercy and try to be patient
maybe they will take pity on me and leave me alone some day
