Close to $30,000 went on medical bills but at least I got to spend some on
myself.
Being under a commitment the cops just come and pick me up and force me into
the hospital then I get a bill.

The nerve of them folks....That ought to be illegal.

Well work, ssdi, and more schooling await.
I should have my asscociates in computer programming in May....... Then
maybe somebody will pay a decent wage.

After 2 years of SSDI you get medicare.

A friend of mine had his own one-man business. He was able to get health
insurance as an individual, but it cost a lot, like $500 per month. It
sounds like paying-up for insurance might have protected your $70K.

Rather than paying the hospitals, I might have looked at chapter 13. Under
chapter 13 you make tiny token payments on monster bills. Your credit would
have been destroyed, of course.

Another route is to do a spend-down, where you buy something you are allowed
to own under your state's medicaid program. You should check with experts,
but, for example, you might buy a $70,000 mobile home. You might then
qualify.

Where is it in America today that they can lock you up forcibly
and then make you pay for it? Being involuntary, you shouldn't pay for
it. But, I heard that Arizona is tough on mental health like
that, but, they shouldn't be able to make you pay for involuntary
treatment. It's like in Commuist China, they make the relatives of
victims of firing squads pay for the bullets.
If you have nothing, you can declare bankruptcy. Being accused of
being schizophrenic, you should be collecting a disability compensation
for it. New Hampshire is a great welfare state. And, when it gets right
down to it, "If they don't allow you a death, they owe you a living".
