Default Biscuits and Sweets and Crisps

In England we call them Biscuits but in America you call them Cookies.
We have a specific type of biscuit that is called a cookie.

In England we call them Sweets but in America you call it Candy. We
have a specific type of sweet which is called Candy.

In England we call them Crisps but in America you call them Chips...

Where did this difference in names of things come from?

I don't know, Americans are just vulgar I guess.

I have a taste for British snacks as my mother was from Scotland. I
have been known to special order Marmite, Smarties, Digestive
Biscuits, etc. off of the Internet. Good stuff.

I have no idea. Many restaurants use the "Fish 'n Chips" idea to name
their fish and frenchfry platters.
Soda (like Coke), is said differently in different parts of the
States.
Sodie, soda pop, pop, soda, or just plain Coke is said for soda.

I lived in England for 3 years. I used to like sausage rolls and Mars
bars and Cadbury chocolate.
