Ahh the 80's ... i remember the times of going to the high school dances

yea the 80s was like michael j-fox, breakdancing, men without hats (one hit
wonder band - "the safety dance"), duran duran, the Cold War, ronald reagan,
atari game consoles, tears for fears (the band), etc

the early till mid-part of the 80s was good for me.

The year that i was leaving school for college, I tried to date this girl in
my class who was a pisces. For some reason i was suddenly attracted to her.
I remember buying her a nice teddy bear (she was totally taken by surprise
since i had hardly spoken to her before that) and asking her out for tea to
this fancy ritzy expensive cafe uptown.
I was prepared to blow my savings on her, i had it all planned. But i came
on too strong and it scared her off.
I was the class nerd/geek and seeing me act like that, with real passion
(for her), the transformation from nerd/geek to loverboy was just too
shocking. Too crude and too strong. She said no after saying yes at first.

i always wondered whether it was the beginning of the disease which affected
my actions then and scared her off.

Let's just say that i was no heathcliff.
