Has anyone ever seen that skit on Saturday Night Live?

I am afraid to post anything now because I will come off like that
maybe and no one will like my posts any more.

I am still full of depression and negative symptoms but it is good for
me to post some.

This is a support group in theory, no?

Is it OK to post some things about being depressed and having so many
negative sypmtoms can't even read a book?

post away...I feel the same sometimes, its hard to be light-hearted
when depression hits, specially in winter.

The Saturday Night Live character I most resemble is the short-lived, "Mr.
No Depth Perception," because of my rather thick glasses.

You are "high functioning"! Pines won't even post or get online
anymore, she
very depressed. I think Mishy is depressed too, but she goes through
cycles.
There is really nothing I know of that would help you, other than
drugs or ECT.
There is some promising hope in vagus nerve stimulation and deep brain
stimulation,
talk to your pdoc about it, if Medicaid will cover it. Try yoga and
zen to clear out the
head of all thoughts, easier said than done, especially with
schizophrenics.

Thanks Ccat I think you are right again. Getting a lot of bad advice
everywhere. I think it is true only drugs or ECT will help right now.

Going to see a doc again in 20 days. Have to wait that long just to
start antidepressants and then they take time to work.

Is it alright shortening your name to Ccat your name is long to
type...

Please don't get ECT. It may destroy you. Nearly everyone I know
becomes worse after ECT in one way or another. You lose certain
positive skills quite often. It's a primitive way of solving a serious
problem.

Could it be a hormonal problem? Are you getting enough sunlight and
fruits?

I think it is more than hormonal. I have actually been treated for
depression for a long, long time. I need some antidepressants. Or
more... an easier life without so much stress.

Post away. It's a support group. Sometimes talking to other people
helps.

Is there a group therapy that you can go to? I go to group therapy once
a week.

ECT does help a lot of people. I read a book by a social worker (Martha
Manning) who had severe depression and no meds worked so she tried ECT
and it really helped her. I think the name of the book was
Undercurrents, I'm not sure.

I don't have the energy to read a book or the paper or magazines. I
blame the medication for that in my case. I know you can't read for
different reasons. I can't see to read either, I'm wearing magnifying
glasses over my contact lens if I try to read. LOL!

Gelly, I've sobered up a bit now. I realize now that I was using you
to atone for my previous failure at helping another long-distance
friend, and heartily apologize. Until I had a bit too much Italian
bubbly my subconscious machinations were hidden from me. I made no
conscious effort to deceive you and regret any hurt I caused anyone.

Please don't let one pushy asshole (me) scare you away from posting
here. It _is_ a support group and it may be that all you need, and all
you should have gotten from me, is acknowledgement that people
understand how you feel because they've been there. And I _have_ been
there. I might not sound like it now, and it actually hurts me more
than anyone else that I'm starting to lapse into a normo's perspective
and utter a lot of tired, stupid shit.

Let me know if you want to talk again or have me arrange a 3-way
through Skype with anyone you want to call long-distance. It costs me
2.4 cents a minute to call anywhere in North America so even a half-
hour conversation would set me back only 72 cents, which is nothing.

Miki

Hi Miki

Yeah, I was a bit put off by how quickly you ended the conversation
last night. I was really surprised and a little shocked, actually.

But I figured it had something to do with the alcohol probably. Or
that you just got fed up for some reason and it would be OK later.

I'll email you about a call. I'm going to be pretty busy the next few
days, but will work it in somewhere.

Talk to you later.

Alison

One reason I originally gave up on pharmseuticals was they increased the
negative symptoms.

There are two types of sz symptoms, positive, thngs that are "added" and
negative symptoms which are things which are taken away.

Well I saw that the chronic "thought intrusions" (cute phrase) were cut
back some but that I coul, would, and often did, forget what song I was
playing when I had my guitar out.

I'd be sitting there doing a tune and I'd simply go zombie with it.
Sometimes forget what key I was in.
This is bad news.

Reading, preferably best sellers, is another extremely helpful past time
for me. Reading became extremely difficult.

So the deal was, as I saw it, go numb numb with the drugs or go back to
my guitar music and reading.
Both of which offer me significant support and theropy.
Easy choice.
Then I got chased around by people holding pill bottles in their hands
shaking them at me like baby rattles.
I'm still "unmedicated" with pharmaseuticals.

Currently waiting to see a psyche doc too, just like Gelly.

Maybe get something to control my anxiety (if thats what it is) so I can
focus on the things I need to do.

I haste to add to my previous post:

You don't just walk away from it.
You need to pay attention to suppliments, meditation/yoga, sleep is
extremely important, etc....

And know that I'm trying to find some drug at present that will be
helpful then numb numb dopamine blockers.

You collect symptom management techniques. You search for "tools".
Perhaps this orientation is a productive theropy in itself.

I'm NOT anti-drugs.

Hi Damo I just joined over at OBM. I'm not feeling like posting much
over there at present, but maybe I will start.

The boards seem kind of confusing right now. But I will see you there
I suppose.

I have no direct experience with ECT, but even the mentioning of ECT is
quite disturbing to me.

The fact that it exists scares the poop out of me.
