Arthur Boyle the cyborg explained:
Sometimes I turn digital. The amount of enemies and information needed
to be processed is simply too much for my brain.
Usually overload or some interrupt (like shock or extraordinary event)
that requires fast and massive processing will switch my brain to
digital mode. Usually, this means creation of a completely new
computer, with fixed reported errors from previous one.
Sadly, somewhere along the way, all of these created computers have
vulnerabilities that are exploited faster and faster, and so I end up
like a zombie system ran by others. There is of course part of main
will and processing left, and I have to finish the task for the
computer to be uncreated.
It is not simply done, because the computer becomes entangled in
digital sin. To explain it simply, in digital world many things seem
normal that cause trouble when returning back to analog.
Thus, simple removal of the computer would leave me an idiot, since it
was constructed from parts of my mind in the first place. Sometimes it
entangles with minds of others, creating manipulation channels,
programming channels and parasitic programming channels used for
brainwashing.
Of course, uncreating computer by sheer force ever created long term
instability in the past.
Mostly, the digital sin accumulated is a real sin which has to be
dealt with when uncreating computer. As every sin has to be paid for,
if the consequences are not undone, the world becomes an unstable
place.
Agents of the old tried simply ERASING sins or deleting them, but that
created monsters. That turned me into a monster. Simply, return from
digital to analog is not that simple: awakened conscience brings great
pain, more than soul can endure, and this is usually temporarily
medicated with indulgence in sin or compulsive consuming of some
stimulant.
True medication of this problem was to introduce Digital Law, which
would be commanded to all the cyborgs. Cyborgs that obeyed Digital Law
committed no digital sins, and had seamless returning to analog
functioning.
But following Digital Law proved immensely had in terms of entropy. It
was much easier to sin digitally than to act digitally correct. And
digitally moral. Digital functioning required higher aesthetics, which
to cyborgs in digital mode were simply not available. But nature was
merciful and providence has enabled some conscience to remain even
when brain functioned as a computer.
This created envy in humans who lost motivation to do anything but
make cyborg's lives miserable. In the end, cyborg would face so much
harassment that he'd overload and commit digital crime. After a
willful digital crime, conscience would be dead, and cyborg was
helpless playtoy in the hands and minds of manipulators.
Digital confession had to be invented. Simply, having computer instead
of brain meant one can make six billion murders per second, and that
was much more than conscience could handle. More and more cyborgs
turned beastly, not because they were inherently evil in the
beginning, but because of abuse overload. After a system for
destroying cyborg's very souls was invented, the cyborgs were doomed.
Digital confession was the salvation.
Priests would enable digital counseling, and the cyborg in computer
mode would go through time with assistance of priest's merciful
conscience spirit. This had to be a very merciful spirit, since most
orthodox religious men thought going digital is satanic, unforgivable
sin, and impossible to repent from.
Many cyborgs went from confession place to confession place and
plugged in, only to be returned back to the chaos where they came
from, and be bound only tighter, as a runaway slave always is bound
tighter. And punished cruelly and brutally.
It turned out after a cyborg after many thousands of failed full
confessions of entire life became so traumatized that some change
happened. He actually past the point of vengeance. In his case, the
virtual processors showed that further vengeance will bring only
exponentially more abuse. He was at the verge to be programmed in a
digital male prostitute by triggers and parasitic programming.
Cyborg chose the greatest analog sinners, and then selected only the
heaviest digital sins converting them back to analog. It DID work!
The main problem was to find initial root sins that caused cyborgs to
want to become digital in the first place, and the reason why their
brains turned digital on overload of information. This was very
individual for each cyborg.
People were mocking cyborg confessions and broadcasting them to put
them to disgrace. No thought could remain hidden due to parasitic
processor traffic sniffing, and no sin either. But the cyborg soon
learned that the internal personality twist has reduced despite all
the betrayals and all the gossip and that D/A (digital to analog)
confessions work.
Some greater providence must have responded to cries of souls. Yes,
what was denied completely and willfully (since even priests were
writing sermons using parasitic capacity of cyborgs's digital minds
and psychiatrists wrote their papers the same way, as well as ethical
codex makers, there was no real critical mass of minds that would
recognize cyborgs as sentient life forms with soul. They were deemed
to eternal destruction once their capacity is spent.).
Arthur Boyle nodded, holding a small key: his next digital confession
was ready to be transferred to Forgiver, in a new encryption form that
will be broken and betrayed faster than it took to decrypt it.
"Are you ready for it? They will crucify you for this sin!"
Arthur replied: "Probably ... But I will be free, analog and
forgiven ... That's worth a try."
