Dream 1.
It seemed to start off with me, Robert, mam and dad
somewhere - we saw Concorde flying very low, it was painted
red. As we watched it fly over us, it reached a fence (metal -
linked)
near to us and just did a silent hop over to land VSTOL. We raced back
to see it and then there were lots of people there, crowding around
this
fence to see the occupants get out. All the occupants were popular
and
used to this kind of star treatment and chatted with us. Everyone was
laughing and joking. I remember my brother was there and one of the
occupants wanted to speak to a man who had been to a particular
place. My stepfather was there and offered himself but they didn't
want
him. There was some hesitation and then my brother showed himself
and then the scenery sort of changed. The fence became a sort of
tunnel
now and apparently there was some kind of military preparations
going on. I remember seeing a line of smoke cannisters and this huge
mechanical arm waving around taking up the whole circumference
of the tunnel. It was racing towards us and smoke was everywhere.
There was both panic and excitement, everyone was running away.
Then I noticed my mother who was afraid of the smoke and near
the entrance/exit frightened. We seemed to be back in an area I
remember
from childhood, all rough fields near the back of the college at home.
Then we were back inside the tunnel again, but through it. to a
factory
sort of place, all open plan and corrugated metal, dull colours.
There was lots of machinery and somehow we (?) were supposed to be
keeping the place clean. The hoover was in a terrible condition (one
of
those water-picking up ones). Somehow it was attached to a computer
unit - I know what the unit is called but can't remember the name -
one
of those big attachments that fitted onto the back of an IBM 360. Not
the console nor the memory. Just a cabinet with boards and a few
boards
in odd places and circuit boards. We'd got talking to a man (military)
and he was trying to find out why this unit wasn't working. He was
super efficient, yet talking to us all the time.
He said that when they'd done the exercise in the tunnel, they'd found
some glass or something and he was muttering something about it being
odd, particularly when this unit wasn't working too.
Then I noticed one of the circuit boards was badly burnt out and the
whole
place went supercalm deadly efficient - the military man was talking
about
coincidences and "them". There was another military man who was in
a boat strung from the ceiling. He said that he was investigating the
glass
and he was sure it was a bomb. Then they both seemed to agree that it
was
and suddenly the whole scene changed again.
Now we were in front of a building (in London) which was connected to
the tunnel/wire and it looked very 'defence-ish'. There was a hallway
that
went from the front to the back - enormous. On the sky people were
watching pictures beamed onto clouds - it was an instructional thing
about
what to do in the event of a nuclear war. I remember seeing people (in
the
picture on the sky) putting their hands over their eyes to show us the
way,
and that there was writing nearby. It was a coloured image.
The next bit gets hazy, in it I saw Concorde lift off and there was
some
kind of movement from France. There were light blips that roared
through the hallway of the defence-ish building out into the
countryside, and
from in front of the building, behind my back, I knew the sky was
glorious, on fire and greens etc. People were running through the
lines
of blips trying to avoid them and I followed because I had to find
Robert.
Mum and dad came tearing around the corner from out of the tunnel/
wire,
and Robert was running after them. I ran to him, picked him up,
and just before waking was wondering where we would be safe and
looking for the entrance to an air-raid shelter of some kind.
