Default earthquake last night

All the phones, both landline and the cell were useless. However, I
discovered that I could send email to relative's cellphones from my
computer.

A long seriously scary earthquake. It shook hard for about ten seconds then
eased up, then got stronger again for a while.

About a dozen minor things fell over in the house.

Biggest quake since '89.

In '89 something weird happened. During the big earthquake I started
hopping into the air. It was easier than trying to keep from falling just
standing on the shaking ground. During one of my jumps the whole world
moved over by about 1.5 feet and I came down in a different place. Just
incredible.

I was in a minor earthquake when I lived in Monterey California during
the early 90s. I went to a language school there.

The earthquake sounded like a freight train.

I was in an earthquake here in Sin City, a place where you wouldn't
expect earthquakes. It felt like a semi crashed into the building and
then it was over. No damage done.

glad you and your house ok, QN

To save me a web search, what part of the country do you live? (N, S,
E, W, midwest)

QN might live in the south west say near that big quake that collapsed
part of the Bay Bridge between Oakland and San Franscisco.
California.
Or..maybe in the north west around Seatle.
They had a bad quake a while ago maybe, maybe 89.

I heard a fragment of some news show that mentioned a big quake
somewhere but with little damage and no reported loss of life.
I missed the location.
Likely QN's quake.
Did say it was a big quake.

I never heard the "freight train" (Hi Penguin!) but I did hear the large
truck just outside and it was just idleing rumbling the house.

Slowly the idle became "bigger" until it went just beyond my capacity to
explain.
I decided it wasn't really a truck it was the washer machine which
started by itself and was doing spin dry on a unequally loaded load.
So I leaned against the washer and found it wasn't the washer either.

Then it started to really speed up.
It wasn't an "idle" any more.
Louder and faster on an increasing speed curve.

Glasses and stuff all started to rattle and I simply could not imagine
what it was.
Something from another dimension maybe something cosmic or from a scary
picture.
It went beynd any way I could find to explain it and I was terrified.
Earth quakes never happen there.
Right at that instant of terror it stopped.

It was late maybe 3 a.m. and I was snacking in the kitchen in the stone
silence of the early morning hours.

I have known west coast quakes but they never measured up to that one.
It happened east of the Rockies.
Someplace that never gets earth quakes...generally speaking.

Long time ago, maybe 1972.

I believe Pierre experianced a good one a little while ago but he never
mentioned it.
No Tsunami attached to it.

The end of the world is coming.

The Sprained Brain Kid.

I want to move west eventually. Maybe Seattle or Portland. My sister
lives in Texas, but that's way too hot for me. I wonder if the rain
in Seattle would get to me? I've been there for a few weeks and loved
the mild weather. The people there are pretty nice too.

I was offline in terms of the ng since some time Wednesday morning, so I
didn't see your post until just 30 seconds ago, and no one told me about
any earthquakes. But last night I had a dream about an earthquake. Don't
think you were in it, although I don't know what you look like. I do
recall a sandy-haired, clean-shaven man who was significantly overweight
and dressed in some kind of pale blue sweater or other top. Let me know
if this is all nonsense.

I passed through Seattle once. The tap water in the Sea-tac area was the
best I've ever tasted. (Sea-tac was their name for the Seattle Tacoma
area.)

Well, a dream is a dream. The guy doesn't sound like me, but interesting
that you dreamed of an earthquake.
