I've heard of multiple personality disorders associated with false memory
brainwashing, but that isn't really "medical" trauma. Hearing voices
sounds like it could be similar, in that one or more of the multiple
personalities could be considered the source of schizophrenic voices, but
are actually an artifact of a psychological torture process where the
victim is brainwashed into believing he/she has been sexually molested by
a satanic cult.
The brainwashing process is sort of like a guided dream, inducing fantasies
so vivid that the imagined characters come to life in the mind. The victim's
original persona can't be the victim of sodomizing devil-worshipping alien
giraffes, the scenario is simply too bizarre and a fantasy process similar to
the one that lets us enjoy fictional movies causes the mind to create an
imaginary alternate identity capable of believing fantastic illogical things
for the sake of storytelling. Normally the individual can switch between
real and fantasy personas (e.g., as he pauses the movie to answer the
telephone), so the brainwash requires creating several alternate personas
and somehow damaging the reality-fantasy separation mechanism so that the
victim winds up shifting between alternate personas and rarely if ever shifts
into his original persona, or has no control over shifting in and out of his
original persona.
