Default Feeling high

Quite often.

Tried to explain that to a pot smoker at work, that I now feel that
way all the time and would rather not go get high with him, that I
take drugs to make it GO AWAY.

He asked me how it could possibly be a bad thing to feel high all the
time.

I said because of the paranoia and bad trips that don't stop.

But it is an easy way to explain to some people how it feels. It can
make some people feel more comfortable with the whole thing. Just tell
them it's like being naturally high all the time.

And unfortunately, having depression is something like having a
hangover without getting the fun of getting drunk first.

Yay.

I wanna be sedated.

All my drugs are prescribed. Woo hoo, it's a party, isn't it fun?

Hmmm.

I start feeling effervescent near the end of the day as my drugs wear
off, like there are bubbles bursting in my brain. Today I was feeling
especially weird, and when I got home I realized that the reason is
probably that I forgot to take my meds last night. I have a weekly
pill organizer, and Monday's was still there. But I could _swear_ I
took them. I don't know what happened.

I felt a similar way during the worst of my last episode. I felt like
my brain was boiling. And folding.

I wrote that somewhere else.

Yes, boiling or bubbles. It was not too good. I've got things to do in
general.

I don´t wanna be sedated, I want to have hallucinations, I want to feel high
and I want to stop my terrible antipsychotics, I hate being stable. I am 100
% sure
you would do BETTER without your antipsychotics. I believe you are a victim
of modern society and doctors have convinced you that you are ill. Did you
know
that normal people can have hallucinations and voices and they are NOT
schizphrenic.

You would have much more fun without your medications. Im on Zyprexa and
Risperdal for a year now, and during this year I haven´t had really fun for
a single day. I had really really really fun when I was manic.

I have been thinking about this post, Gelly, for a few days now. In 30
years this is the first constructive idea I have come across for handling
telling people about SZ/SZA. It will take a lot for me to shift from my
policy of secrecy and even outright lies. However, I'm thinking about it.
Sz might be like being "high" on a bad trip. I never used illegal drugs, so
I don't really know, but it would sound very plausible to the normalos.
Thanks for sharing this.

Wow, I'm glad my experience is useful in some way.

I have lived "in the closet' for many years and I did come up with
this as one way of explaining it to people to put them at ease.

Most people have at least smoked pot a few times and know the feeling.
And if they haven't, then they still have sympathy because they know
you didn't do it to yourself, but are having the bad effects anyway.

I am a cannabis user sometimes and it cannot compare
to being psychotic, being high is a relaxing feeling where thought
are being broken off so you don't build up a paranoid feeling,
you rather forget your thought every 2 minutes. I have never
had complaints using pot, never a bad trip and never paranoia.
For me being schizo if unmedicated is walking with a walkman
on my head with all kinds of people talking to me, it is more
like short wave radio. I started using meds because I wanted
to get back to my lonely self without thought comming in.
And it worked, on meds I live in an permanent state of nirvana.
And the pot is an extra to feel good every now and then, harmless.

That's true. But if _you're_ having hallucinations and voices, then
that _may_ mean you have a problem.

I have this thirst for the "high", even though it was the most
horrible, humiliating and frightening episode of my life.

However, my life has gotten so much better on meds, that I keep
pushing thoughts of experimenting with a lower dosage to the side...
