Default FYI:Using Panax Ginseng

Hello A.S.S.

The last few days I started taking Panax Ginseng. So I decided to write here
my expirience sofar from it. I take 800 mg solian 2 tables 1 in the morning
and 1 at night before eating 2 tablets of niacinamide 1 in the morning and
one in the night after eating, 1000mg of fishoil after supper at noon and
0.25 mg Xanax (half a tablet every night) to help me sleep. I also take 1
tablet of akineton retard 4mg every night to treat my left leg stiffnes. I
take 550 mg Panax Ginseng every night with the dinner and I have seen that
negative symptoms are withdrawing. I have more energy eatch day and there
are times where I must do something to fill my day. I try to reschedule my
programm so that I can fit more activities in my day time because there is
time where I am thinking of what to do now. The side effects I noticed is
some itching in various parts of the body (from head to legs) and if I drink
too much coffe and I go out for a walk some confusion. That is when I turn
my head on the right or on the left I seem to loose my pace. If I can
describe that better it is something that I do not calculate the distance
from an object (that can be a pedestian or a tree or a traffic sign) ahead
of me and when I turn my head sideways I loose the ability to calculate my
distance from it so I can collide with it.But negative symptoms have almost
vanished although there is a residue of them. I shall give you some url's to
see for yourself about the recent study about panax ginseng (thats asia
ginseng). I use the Solgar Panax Ginseng. Here come the urls
http://www.webmd.com/schizophrenia/n...-schizophrenia
The url above is about the study of the panax ginseng on schizophrenics.
Here is a url about a study about panx ginseng
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/N...nia%22&rank=22
Here are some side effects of Panax Ginseng. Note that if you have diabetes
ask your doctor before administrating Panax Ginseng

Anybody else tried this remedy? I want to see If anyone else has the same
effect as I have.
Thank you

Yannis

I've tried it recently, but have stopped taking it. I don't think I
took it long enough to really experience a benefit and will try again.
The thing is - once opened, the bottle has to be kept in the
refrigerator with the lid on tight. Perhaps I took it too literally.
I tried taking them only when I was home so I could keep it in the
original bottle and in the fridge. So at night after taking it, I
couldn't sleep and in the morning, I never had time to stop and take
one.
Starting tomorrow, I will try again - putting a few in a pill bottle
and take them with me. Shouldn't hurt to keep 'em in my pocket, eh?

Hello Erik

I dont know if there is need to keep the bottle in the refrigerator. I did
not see anythink like that in the description on the bottle. It says just
keep it in a dry place. Just like the other medications I use I have put it
in a cupboard where the temperature is steady and the light does not pass
most of the time and it is not humid. Where did you find that advice to keep
it in the refrigerator?

Thanks

Yannis

Hi Erik

I forgot to say that I take 50mg 1 tablet of topamac for loosing weight. It
works for me! And to correct my previous post I copy from the bottle which
writes on the label "Korean Ginseng(Panax Ginseng)" and each tablet contains
500mg raw Korean Ginseng root powder na 20 mg Korean Ginseng Root Powdered
Extract (4:1). I do not know what that 4:1 means. If you have any clues
please write them!
Thanks

Yannis

It says on the bottle. Perhaps they mean it would stay potent longer
if I did so. I guess if I take 2 a day, they'll be gone in less than
2 months. I need to be able to take them with me so I get the
afternoon dose and not one before bedtime.

THis is the link to what I bought.
Hell...it's 600mg/capsule.
I also cannot find where it said to stay refrigerated. (maybe it was
on the plastic I peeled off to open it?)

I'm going to start taking 2 a day and just keep it in a cool dry place
like the label says.

Using the above link you can look at the label off my bottle. It's 3%
Ginsenosides = 18mg
Just me guessing, I'd say yours is a little more potent than mine. 1
of my tablets is 600mg though?
I'll look around.

Wikipedia goes into Ginsenoside a bit, but I don't think they know for
sure what it does. I'm not sure what the 4:1 means.
Does the place you bought it have a website?

I believe when I took Topomax I was on 25mg. I'll see if she'll up
the dose for me. I'm blowing up like a balloon.

4:1 means 4 times the potency for the volume of material (theoretically).

In fact it is that the extract is 1/4 the volume of the original
substance.

I am not sure about extracts, as I fear some excipients may be lost.

Where possible in taking herbs I like the raw herb, however, raw herb
is much more variable than extract, particularly standardised extract.

I also recommend Ginko Bilboa, especially if a smoker as it compensates
for the contraction of arteries to some extent, improving blood supply to
the brain. Also to counter sedation Sida Cordifolia, but not if you are
prone to anxiety. For muscular tension and anxiety valerian is a good bet,
similar in effect to benzos but non addictive, can also help in coming
off benzos.

Rhodiola Rosea is a good alternative to ginseng and a better flavour,
also, to my senses just feels "smoother" and I perceive it to be
healthier,
I take 250mg extract X2 in the morning when I feel difficulty in waking,
It is not a stimulant more a "fortifier".

L-Dopa in the form of macuna extract can increase psychotic symptoms but
is useful when depot injections are too sedating, use with caution and
only when necessary. Non medicated people have told me 1/10g was more
potent than 1g cocaine, I did not feel this way, as I am on haloperidol
injections. Do not exceed 250 mg per 24 hrs and more than 4 doses a
fortnight.

You might have experienced a reality shift. I had one just yesterday
morning, so they're kinda bunching up.

I have taken "Ginseng"...all kinds...for over 20 years. I do not want
to sound like a know-it-all so I will limit what I say. Panax Red
Korean Asian ginseng makes me nervous. I like American ginseng...very
calming with all the beneifts of Panax ginseng. Not spam. I buy mine
at Hsu's Ginseng...the roots are the best I think....
