It looks like THEY are trying to cover up.
The gene is DISC1 and it causes there to be "too many" links
between the neurons.
Since the brain isn't fully grown until 25 years old,
schizophrenia is usually noticed from 17 to 26.

15-20% is a small percentage. Guess they'll have to tailor make our
meds.

This means that there are a virtually infinite amount of genetic
mutation combinations and predispositions that lead to the development
of schizophrenia. This makes it significantly more difficult to
effectively treat. There aren't just a few genes causing schizo, there
are possibly hundreds or thousands, and they are all effecting each
other in ways we can't predict.

The best thing we could do would be find the genetic traits that most
contribute to schizophrenia and "fix" them with genetic treatments.
This could help us understand what chemicals or development problems
are effected. Most likely glutamate and dopamine. There are a lot of
epigenetic factors involved as well. These can potentially be fix with
different medications and genetic treatments.

We are getting closer to a cure, one development at a time.

Not an inch.

Telling that there are hundreds of thousands genes responsible for sch
means they know virtually nothing and it may not be genetic at all.

Remember that sch is a catch-all diagnose including probably hundred
of diseases with thousand possible causes, some maybe even genetic.

The fact it is in families may mean anything from gentic disease,
learned behavior up to generational curse because of use of black
magic or witchcraft in families.
