Default going off meds wisely

When I decided to try going off meds I didn't have a psychiatrist, so I told
my family doctor. He gave me a prescription so I'd have enough until the
next appointment in case I needed to go back on, but otherwise left things
in my hands. So I told my family and friends what I was doing and asked them
to give me feedback on my behaviour, and kept a journal on how I was
feeling, which I could re-read to see if there were differences. I noticed a
steady deterioration in my concentration. The telling moment was when I
watched a soccer game with my family and barely noticed anything that was
going on on the TV, while looking like I was paying attention and even
making enough comments to seem that I was. I realized I could pass for
normal but would never be able to work in that condition, and if I am off
meds I would have to get a job. So I started taking them again right away.

Hope this helps some of you.

yesh yesh, pines sometimes gets that "thousand yards stare" too, but I
figure she's off with the faeries, 'eh?! They say schizophrenics get
distracted very easily. How is your "motivation problem" doing? I
don't think George and QN approves of you going off your meds, but
sometimes you have do what you gotta do.

Nobody told me they approved or disapproved, and I mean either here or
elsewhere. The RL people I told accepted my right to try. And since nothing
in particular happened except me getting distracted from time to time, they
were right.

The distraction is because shit goes on inside your head. It used to torment
me, but this time around it didn't do more than distract me. I could live
with it but it would be like being a zombie.

Some meds taste good. Pass the depakote, it tastes like vanilla.

Remember chocolate Ex-Lax? As a kid I once mistook it for chocolate.
