Default Google

I usually post with google.

A few days ago I was looking at this newsgroup with outlook express
and noticed that a number of posts that show up with outlook express,
don't show up in google.

Strange...

I agree. Google Groups is supposed to be comprehensive.

My ISP doesn't provide a newsfeed, but Forte APN is only $2.95 a month, and
it's intended for binary newsgroups so it has great selection, completion
and retention. The only hassle is I need a credit card for it.

But, as Berty points out, their completion rate might not be so good.

There is a friend of mine in here who published things B.C.,
Before Computers, before the internet, that is.
He has turned a 180° turn since then and has become a Christian.
But thanks to Google his past has followed him for all to see.
Some women in his church "Googled" him and easily found some of
his nastyest writings. He's in here and he has a compensation for
schizophrenia, otherwise, he could never have employment with his Google
record. Even so, I don't think Google is going to help other facets of
his life either. What is your Google record?

My Google record is terrible. In the past I've been unstable and erratic and
said many unwise things. But usenet is something of a communications
backwater now, so I doubt most prospective employers would pay any attention
to it--unless someone directed them to incriminating posts. And that would
be just plain mean.

It happens. This guy was scandalized all over church by the two
women who found his Google file. But, not all people are that bad. Only
these women and their hypocritical friends stick their noses up and snub
this guy. But where will the rumors go?
There was a series of books published about 25 years ago called
"Murphy's Law" I, II, III, IV and V. In one there was "Henry's Entropy",
and it is that, "Rumors always get worse." But, that was B.C., Before
Computers, before the internet that is. There is always the original
Google evidence.

In the US, you can buy pre-paid VISA cards at drugstores and supermarkets.

Also, if you have a bank checking account and ATM card, they often offer to
add "VISA" to the debit card.

And, presumably, load them at drugstores and supermarkets? That sounds
convenient and reasonable, QN. In Canada prepaid Visas still don't exist and
obtaining a prepaid MasterCard is treated sort of like obtaining porn.

In what situations is it accepted as a Visa? The prepaid M/Cs I'm talking
about can be used to make electronic and POS purchases but not to reserve a
hotel room or rent a car.

I like Google.

I recently added Google desktop to my computer with Google Earth, Adobe,
Picasa, and Star Office all for free.

Google may be locating an office in my city. Maybe I should polish up a
resume and try and use my "Ticket to Work".

Hi Jim,

If you feel like working again, working with google seems very
interesting.

Of course, Google is the most useful search engine on the
internet. I can look up anyone.
There are "reverse-address" systems where you can take an address
and find out who lives there. Then you take any name and Google it and
find out all about that person. No one is exempt.
