Finally Microsoft supplies a spell checker, but alas it doesn't seem to work
out of the box...
Otherwise, so far so good.

Vista gave me fits when I tried it. It didn't see my video card at all
and my webcam doesn't work with it. And they removed Fax Services! The
bastiches. I ended up taking it back for a refund.
But you'd agree the desktop is really nice and the sound scheme is better.

Sometimes I wish I had kept my Google stock. I bought at around 470. It
went down. -Then it came back up, and I sold around 470. Now it is over
650.

I keep hearing bad things about Vista. Thanks for your story.
I'm just afraid of the day they stop supporting XP. |

You can get support for Win 2000 and Win 98, even Win 95, if you dig
hard for it and accept that you can't run the very latest software with
it. Many people oppose Microsoft's deliberate obsolescence strategy on
old OSs and put in time creating freeware and shareware to help
counteract it. So, once MS obsolescences XP, it'll still be usable for
quite a while.
Vista is actually better than XP if you have a late-model system. My
problem is that I have to make do with circa-2003 hardware because I
can't afford anything newer, and Vista is deliberately intended to force
you to upgrade your hardware.

Technically, I *can* afford to upgrade the hardware and buy new printers and
such. However, on a fixed income, the reality is that money I spend beyond
my Social Security deposit is gone forever, and I'll never be able to
replace it. |

I don't remember any Google splits.
There was a stock, I think it was Berkshire Hathaway, that was trading
around $80,000 PER SHARE a few years back. I should look it up. **** I just
looked it up. Berkshire Hathaway "A" stock is at $127,990 per share. They
own a bunch of companies, like See's Candy. |
