I spent money like a drunken sailor again: a case fan for my new computer, a
hard drive fan, new headphones with built-in mic, a digital optical drive
sound cable, a can of compressed air for blowing out my keyboard, a cheap
but nice new mouse pad. The big ticket item was a $50 video and TV capture
card with 256 Meg of built-in memory. It should be delivered early next
week. It's a PCX16 card and I have a brand new spankin' PCX16 slot waiting
for it. A bit excited.
I went on Microsoft's website and downloaded their free trial version of XP
Pro 64-bit but don't like it, so I've just stopped using it and am just
going to let the trial period expire. There is another trial version of XP
Pro SP2 x86, and I might take advantage of that just because of the upgraded
driverpack. But a new product code from Microsoft costs $199! That's more
than XP Pro costs even at Business Depot.
My next purchase will likely be a decent sound card. The software with the
one I'm using right now isn't ideal.
