Default Learned helplessness theory

X-No-Archive: yes

Wikipedia describes ‘learned helplessness’ as “a psychological
condition in which a human being or an animal has learned to act or
behave helpless in a particular situation, even when it has the power
to change its unpleasant or even harmful circumstance.” Sound
familiar?

Sounds extremely familiar. My voices have been conditioning me toward
learned helplessness for decades. But they have failed.

That reminds me of the feeling I get when I'm in the public restroom
and just sat down for a number 2. Finish and realize no tp.

That reminds me of how stupid I think some people are for not checking for
TP before they sit down.

Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament,
and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that
can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop
worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand
of unhappiness.

and for putting it off until they REALLY HAVE TO GO and there's no time to
check the other stalls.

possible remedies when the deed is done:

- check your pockets for used kleenex
- knock on the wall and ask the guy next door to pass you some
- wait till the place sounds empty and waddle out to the paper towel
dispenser
- flush the toilet and use the water and your fingers

suspicion based on 20 years of my observation (putting it mildly) and
reports of others.

Oh. I didn't think she'd be diagnosed. Sociopaths rarely are and they
just get termed as nasty people.

A few years ago I read a book on the subject. It's an Oriental
art, and there's even an Oriental name for it.
But, kids act like kids from being treated like kids. If an adult
is treated like a kid he will soon be acting just like a kid.
There is nothing like independence to forget dependencies. It will
be just GO FOR IT.
