At 9:35 or 9:40 this morning, I place a telephone call to Tim Sparks. If his
voicemail still says it's July 17th, I don't bother leaving a message. Come
to think of it, if I get his voicemail at all I don't leave a message. If he
answers I order him to issue me my end of July check as soon as possible. If
I don't get satisfaction then I go to the constituency office of George
Smitherman, my local elected representative (who used to be Sparks' boss as
Minister of Health) and get them to intervene. I've already written them a
letter that I can have printed this morning, and intend to take all my
documentation with me.
If I just get Sparks' voicemail I call Aisha Brown and only ask her whether
my benefits have been reinstated. I expect her to say, "No, there's
information missing"--which means Sparks hasn't even acknowledged receiving
my July 21st letter yet, which I dropped off at his office and had my copy
stamped received. Which is a problem for him because the regs say he's
supposed to review it and come to a decision in five business days. In that
case, or if I get her voicemail, I simply head off to the constituency
office.
Chances are the constituency assistant will attempt to do ass-covering on
behalf of Sparks. I don't care. I just want my end of July check and all my
ongoing future checks as long as I remain eligible for disability.
