Over three years ago, I started to write some notes about medications
for depression. I did this for myself, at first, in an attempt to
understand how these drugs worked. Once I got started, I found that
other people were interested, so I began making my notes available in
several Internet newsgroups.
At some point, I realized I was writing a book. I titled it "Medicines
for Mental Health," and created a Web site so that I could put the
book in a place where other people could find it. I decided that it
needed one chapter for each of these major mental illness that could
be treated by medication, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and
Schizophrenia, and planned accordingly.
I'm happy to say that the book is finally finished. I have just
completed the final chapter on schizophrenia and antipsychotic
medications. Along the way, I also wrote a chapter on how to treat
sexual dysfunction, since that is a common effect from both these
illnesses, and the medications used to treat them. I have updated my
Web site with the information about all the medications described in
the book.
For those of you who have helped me in many ways, with advice and
insights, I say thank you. For anyone who has any thoughts to
contribute about the completed book (especially on the new material
about schizophrenia and antipsychotics), I will very much appreciate
hearing your thoughts.
Best wishes to everyone,
Nom
