Default Mystery

When a priest says "It's a mystery" how come
it's seen as profound, where as when I say
"I haven't a clue" people don't seem so rapturously
impressed.

I wish people would pay me so well, vicarages are
the second biggest building on a manorial estate,
why should I believe anything coming out of a church
that teaches poverty and yet is so wealthy!! duh!

Heard of con tricks?

Pray to jesus and you go to heaven.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Default Re: Mystery

My issue with clergymen is that they seem to be trained to explain things
*away* rather than explain them. Otherwise I like them as human beings
because they embody many qualities I lack--humility, gentleness, patience,
forbearance, and steadfastness.

A mystery and "I haven't a clue" are completely different. If you don't have
a clue then you don't know something, but there is no evidence that
something exists to be known; except that, if it did exist, likely your mind
would be capable of knowing it. A mystery is a piece of knowledge that does
exist but our minds are not capable of apprehending. Every religion has its
mysteries. And what's at the bottom of our psychoses is a kind of mystery
too.
