| | | Need Help Problem. I have a dongle but nothing to stick it in. This guy told me
it was best to try and pick up a slim laptop then push my dongle into
the slot, but I think it might be easier having it on a desktop. I'm
confused because my Sister has a Wii and does it without even needing
a dongle. Please help. |

Hah. Try having a totally dead desktop that won't work with any fancy
gadgets at all...

I'm confused too. Are you joking?
A Wii is a game system with a proprietary OS and firmware. A dongle is
typically a USB device that is similar to a flash drive in appearance.
It provides a key for expensive software. It tends to work better than
other copyright protection schemes, because people have to generally
recreate the dongle, or reverse engineer the way that the software works
with it (requiring knowledge of electronics) if they want to steal.
If your desktop currently lacks USB ports you can buy PCI or PCI express
USB cards. They are usually fairly affordable too. newegg.com is one
source for them. There may be a closer retailer. Search for USB
controller.

George is a big computer person. Now that I am back online, I have
been talking to him a lot on Instant Messaging. He is thinking about
trying to get a job as a tech support person. |

I thought it was a joke.
My reply is a joke too,
Although it's all true,
Because my life is a joke.
And that is a joke too.

A WII does not need a dongle. You just plug the audio and video cables into
the TV set. |

OK, so CW, please clear this up. Was it meant to be a joke or not?
Like I said, my reply is totally true but it's also kind of a joke
too. |

Some computers can have a USB port added to them, such as PCs with PCI slots
or laptops with PCMCIA card ports. |

I admit that were my first thoughts too when
I read the first lines of his message.
I am a computer specialist but have no clue to
what he is talking about, maybe because I am
a software engineer and not a hardware goeroe
