Quitting Risperdal for now

    Default Quitting Risperdal for now

Ummm. Sitting up bleary eyed at 4 am.

Noting too witty or entertaining to say. Just random rants and whines.

I keep packing on weight so quitting Risperdal. This is ridiculous. I
have few clothes that fit anymore. Not eating that much. Not exercising
much either though. Am also going to work out a way to get a gym
membership again tho living on miraculously small amount of money.
Borrow against upcoming tax returns maybe. Haven't filed in a few
years, have some money coming. Anyway. Bleh. I'm going to take the risk
with quitting the med and seeing how it goes. I might do OK without it.
Already have insomnia though. Will keep it handy and go back maybe.
    Just see how it goes.

Hate to talk about money again, never thought I cared about it that
much before. I mean I had tough times with it before, it's not like
I've always had it and just now miss it. Anyway older brother sent a
whopping 300 bucks to help get thru this filing thing. Geez. He is a
Juris doctor, does alright, not married no kids, could do better than
that. I was disappointed. Well, I was able to pay back taxes and
register my car finally. Was driving around with APRIL license plates.
    Hah.

Life has to be a little more fun than all this. Am still living in this
condo in nowhere. Hope I remember how to have some more fun again if it
    ever comes along again.

Wheeeeeee. Going to go lie down again and see if can sleep, try to
    think good thoughts.

Come on in the music's lovely :-)

"Leave the meds where they are I don't know them but you do know me" has to
be my current life without Risperdal this day. Does Sheryl Crow still wear
Team perfume behind her knees now that she's married? Well! We all make
intelligence mistakes, don't we people, welcome aboard Gelly. I will maybe
not make you a cup of atom-powered tea, the brandy is nice, yes nice, nice I
    suppose.

NOW HEAR THIS BBC RADIO SIX.

I have not "got a nice rug."

My girlfriend is not assertive enough.

You could smoke Risperdal I suppose.

I walked 3.75 miles in 90 minutes last night. I can't walk much more than that.
It was very hilly too and I had to stop to rest for 5 minutes a few times,...and
rainy, but I had an umbrella. I slept an extra 3 hours because of it. But I can
walk 15-20 percent faster since I quit my Lipitor a month ago. I woke up too
late this week to pick up some meds at the pharmacy this week, they owe me 80
pills on a 90 pill refill.

Its good that you are walking. And going up those hills. My legs are so
strong now that I don't get as much benefit from the long walks and hills.
I zoom up them and don't get the relaxing effect. May need to increase.

I know that feeling that life has to be more fun than this. Its a very
empty kind of feeling. And gloomy too just thinking that you are not having
any fun no matter what you do to try and amuse yourself. You could drink a
large cup of coffee to help perk up. And take a long walk.

Article in the paper yesterday says I'll only burn 200 calories by walking 2.5
miles in an hour. Say double cheeseburger!
Weight Watchers TV dinners were on sale today for $1.49 instead of 80 cents or
more higher, for 9 oz. of food . So I bought a dieters dozen (11) of them
tonight. I also bought a splurgers dozen (14) of 2-liter diet soda bottles too.

I am not losing any weight.

This is the case even though I walk 45 kilometers per week. That's
just over 11 kilometers, four times a week. I use a treadmill for my
    walks.

The average speed is about 6.5 kilometers per hour, or 4 miles per
    hour.

In short, it's 105 minutes on the treadmill, four times a week. That's
7 hours of exercise per week.

But it sure does reshape the body. I am 49 years old, but this
exercise has knocked my appearance back over by about 10 years. I have
been exercising for about a year now.

The benefit is that when you are feeling extra down, you can take a
look at your new self in the mirror, and turn the negative feeling
    around 180.

Find out on the Internet somewhere what your daily calories is for light to
moderate activity. Then, eat 200 to 400 less than that each day. It can be
a slow process but once you see it working, you will watch the pounds slowly
    melt away.

    Hi,
This is my first post to this group. I too am taking risperdal. It's
been one month and I gained 6 pounds, centered around my stomach. I am
only 5' 1". I complained to my dr. and he cut the dose in half. I am
still hungry all the time, but have more will power not to eat. Can
your dosage be reduced? The up side is I am not having aural and
visual hallucinations as much anymore. However, if my weight continues
to increase, I will probably quit too. I have had too many bad side
    effects on other meds.

All the talk about weight gain is new to me. All you have to do is eat a
certain amount of calories and leave it at that. If you can't stop there,
eat some plain meat. That's the Atkins diet to some degree. Eat plain meat
when you are too hungry to take it anymore.

Easier said than done. I am on weight watchers and it works pretty
well for me, but when your stomach is growling and hurts because you
are so hungry you can eat a cow, watching my calories is the last thing
    on my mind. FEED ME!!!

By the way, I stopped taking the risperdal and have lost 4 pounds so
    far.

You are probably right. Its easier said than done. But I actually did just
that. I ate around 1500 calories per day for several months and lost about
30 pounds. And if I got too hungry, I would eat plain meat. The plain meat
would be very filling and also boring to eat so you would stop after a small
amount. I also kept thinking that I had no time right now to get diabetes
and then have to put up with it. Just keep that in mind, ask yourself you
have time right now to put up with diabetes.

All the new atypical meds make you gain more weight than the old meds.

    OK,

The insomnia was too much. I started it again.

Maybe I will try again if I can get a sleeping pill from the doc.

Insomnia is what keeps me from stopping geodon.

I've stopped meds before and it seems that I go thru 30 days of insomnia
and after that I sleep normally until I'm totally off the deep end.

    Penguin,

Have you ever tried one of the older meds? I have this guess that you might
do better on one of them.
