Default Schizoaffective

I suffer schizoaffective disorder. I take Sulpiride 50mg morning and
night. So 100mg total. Citalopram 40mg, Diazepam as and when needed.
Plus 25mg of Clozapine.

have extreme worries about the side effect profile of this drug. I'm
taking 25mg a small dose I know. But before you all jump on the band
wagon. I have contacted my psychiatrist about my concerns and he said
in all his 14 years of practicing he has never had problems from this
drug.

Am I being paranoid again? I'm on my third day of taking it. Also he
has prescribed benzo's with it and Clozapine is not supposed to mix
well with them.

Well the side effects I'm experiencing at the moment. Are sleepwalking
and bed wetting, pissing in bed. Not good.

Your meds are too complicated for me to really give a good answer, but I
feel the important consideration is comparing your life without meds to life
with meds, and judging if the meds are worth the risks and side effects.

This is my non-medical opinion on medical matters so take it or leave it.

I wonder whether the night time disturbances are due to anxieties over the
drug, we still have well founded "normal" emotional responses as well as
the problems of psychosis and medication. We are primarily human first
our diagnosis is a poor second.

Are you getting regular blood tests?
You need to on Clozapine. Your Pdoc should NOT be complacent over
potential side effects. 14 years practice is a short time in psychiatry
it seems he is getting a little arrogant.

What country are you in? Can you demand regular blood screening,
talk about this to other members of his team, protest in as reasoned
and not-over-emotional manner as you can to all of your carers
including family and freinds if you are not getting blood tests.

Are you entitled to a second opinion. You should be able to apply for a
second opinion over treatment issues, not just diagnosis.

Please let us know if you are getting blood tests, I feel anxious over
this,
If you are not I shall be feeling very cross, and encourage you to get the
right care as far as I am able.

Please reply.

I will be online again within 48 hours.

Well I have spoke to my Psychiatrist and he has recommended that I
take half a tablet. 12.5mg as opposed to 25mg. Done that last night,
seems to have worked. No problems. He also said I should take a blood
test in a year. My dosage will never increase above 25mg. As I stated
it's 12.5mg now.
