| | | SHRINKS, THE MOST INSANE OF ALL What a cover they have. Almost as good as a catholic priest, they
hide their insanity behind a cover of.......hmmm...let me think.
Leaning back in their chairs, you all know the act. Pretending that
YOU are the one's that need looking at.
And an act it is. They take years to develop it, and don't understand
a thing. The only thing they know is what they memorize. Or which
meds to bring.
The distraction, is their favorite tool. Oh shit, don't look at me.
We're supposed to look at you. |

The shrinks I go to don't even look at me, they just type everything I
say into a computer, then give me a prescription.

I had to accompany my mother into her shrink's office a few weeks
ago. She fell into dementia, and I was needed to explain how her
behavior was.
She's been seeing this shrink for years, and the shrink knows what I
am. He seemed scared to death of me. Was afraid I could look right
through him.
They are much more comfortable around those which they control, or
those they can fool. |

With most of my good therapists they have encouraged me to look them in
the eye. I think mostly for my own benefit, because I was thinking
people were hostile towards me or disliked me when they weren't.
I find that it helps to look people in the eye. I feel better when I
do that, because the other person knows I'm listening to him/her, and I
pickup the more subtle things about conversations that way. The other
person can do the same thing.

This is one point of my post. Did it work? I mean did the shrink
make you feel inferior to him/her? Like you need "the idiots guide to
eye contact".

No, he didn't make me feel inferior. I felt that way naturally before
that. :-) I did get angry/irritable at times, especially when I was
tired and woke up early at the hospital, but I told him why I was
angry, and that generally made me feel better. As time has gone on I
have felt like more of an equal, and respected.
> For your benefit, George.
Thanks
My current therapist and pdoc are really very respectful. My therapist
is like a friend in some ways, but I understand that there must be a
boundary, so that he can help me properly and professionally. When that
boundary gets violated, which unfortunately happens far too often --
children get molested, damaged women get abused... So I can see the
reason for the boundary -- it's about long term progress of us all.
In many cases you get what you give.
The golden rule is the best rule.
Take care,

You mentioned in another post that you weren't diagnosed with
scizophrenia. So I was wondering what you are diagnosed with?
This is a sincere question. I am diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Tom, penguin is a sweet chick who wouldn't hurt a blade of grass. It's rude
of you to insult someone like that. I'm asking you politely not to do it.

Not much, I would say. They don't even intervene enough to even
provide decent health care/benefits.
There are a few things I think you can't do very well legally if you
have a mental illness. For instance being certified to be a court
reporter in my case. Or maybe owning a gun, providing testimony in
other cases, something like that.
Otherwise I think they don't care too much. |
