water mess

My water was off today for several hours. During that time, I tested for
water pressure several times in the bathroom. Apparently, the last time I
didn't close the valve all the way. The sink was stoppered.

I was watching a DVD and heard an electronic beep behind me. I'm not sure
what it was. I got up to look for what might be plugged in or turned on.
From the new position I could hear water running.

Water was several feet out of the bathroom into the dining area. The
bathroom was a mess. Some water went down the heater register. The
weirdest part was that as the water flowed off the counter it came down the
front of the cabinets and filled all three drawers with gallons of water.

I spent an entire hour doing cleanup.

That's a drag. Once I had a real flood situation in my apartment. The
geniuses upstairs went out of town in the middle of winter and left
the heat off. Pipe froze, burst. Water all down the walls, pooled in
light fixtures, etc. It took months to fix the damage. They were on
the top floor too and it messed up the apartment beneath me too.

Ah that stinks - atleast it wasn't the toilet.

When there is a chance during an extreme cold spell that the pipes may
freeze its wise to let your fawcetts leak water. Just a little.
That can stop the pipes from freezing,
A burst pipe from a freeze is about as much fun as a backed up setic
system.

We used to let a small stream of water run through the sink.

It sounds like QN had frozen pipes and turned the spigptt on and no
water came out.
Then during the day as the temps went up, he got soaked.
