Default What do you make of this?

I was arguing with my wife the other night. We seem to have these
constantly and I'm getting used to them, as all is forgotten in the
morning. Usually the theme is if I get a little psychotic as I do from
time to time. Especially when a life changing event happens, such as
the birth of my newborn. Anyway so I lost it a bit. I've come back now
and am fine. The Psych increase my dose. So as I was arguing and I
think most of you know the history of my in-laws from my past post's.
So I said your family are all crazy with the exception of one of her
brothers who you can have a normal conversation with.

She said how can you say that your diagnosed with schizo-affective dis-
order. So I said and I want to know if this makes sense.

The person who is crazy and does not know or want to admit it, is
crazy. The person who is crazy and admits it and seeks professional
help, is really not that crazy after all.

I fall into the second category. She said I was talk clap trap and
cryptic nonsense. Now call me crazy does that not make perfect sense.
When applied to certain members of her family the first of that
statement is true. She denied this, we went to bed and nothing more
was said. This was four days ago.

I'd just like to know peoples take on this.

Thanks.

What if you're both crazy? This illness is tough on us, and those
around us at times. I recall times when my mom has been very confused
by me. When we aren't understood we tend to turn inwards, and that just
makes things worse. I suggest talking about your thoughts, and your
wife may be able to help you see them as delusions, and somehow allow you to
break free.

Nearly every delusion I've been through, is based on feelings, with a
few facts mixed in. Feelings that aren't facts.

Following my thoughts to a logical conclusion has helped me break out of
many of these delusions, but I don't see them as delusions until someone
points them out usually.

I have family members that don't believe I have schizophrenia, and
others that understand that I do. One family member that doesn't
believe, thinks I should just socialize more and everything will get
better.

Each person sees reality through their own eyes. Reality is clouded by
our experiences. Some are unaware of this, and impose their reality
upon others.

The devil is in the details.

What behavior made you think that her relatives are mentally ill, but
undiagnosed?

Sometimes, I think those of us with these problems can spot them in others
quickly. However, sometimes, since we have a problem, we may incorrectly
project our own problem onto someone else.

It works both ways.

Things work out better, if a scheezer recognizes that they have a problem,
but it does not mean they are "OK."

My mother in law can be quoted stating there are enemies everywhere.
With regards to her big family. She walked past me the other day, just
out of the blue she told me never to talk to her again. I'd been at
work all day. Never even had any contact with her. Now correct me if
I'm wrong but does that not sound like a candidate for a mood
stabilizer?

Hello Chris,

Ever met a normal person?

I know you are from SA. I remember it from one of your posts
long ago. I once had an internet relationship with a girl in SA.
From what I remember they were very religious and I was not.
I think SA is somewhat behind compared to the UK for instance.
I think you can say they live in the 60's with morals from the
60's and you came from the UK out of the year 2000. So there
is a clash of cultures.
