It is a cross between schizophrenia and bi-polar (manic depression).

It is a thought and mood disorder - with the mood swing symptoms-
euphoria (mania) and depression - of bi-polar (manic depression) and
the thought dellusions of schizophrenia. They may also hear some
auditory or see visual hallucinations.

People who are in a euphoria phase may have an unusually high sex
drive, buy things they don't really need or be raring to do things with
their life and have lots of ideas but when they try out something new
they normally give up half way

People who are suffering depression may have apathy - and leave chores
undone or care less about personal hygene and doing anything, thinking
there is no point.

People with dellusions or those with hidden euphoria (they can be
confused) may think or express strange ideas, say unusual things or do
things that seem to those on the outside as silly or strange.

P.S. I'm no expert, these are just my understandings as I have been
diagnosed with this illness and these are some of the things I
experience.

An 'affect' is an emotion, feeling, or mood.

Schizoaffective disorder is a disease of thought (schizophrenia) and
mood/emotion (depression or manic depression). The behaviors of someone
with schizoaffective disorder would be similar to the behaviors of someone
with schizophrenia AND depression or manic depression.

It seems like a dubious distinction to me, the distinction between thought
and mood problems, since the two are intertwined so intimately.

Its like you could be very down and depressed, somewhat paranoid that others
are against you, and have a very low amount of mental concentration. If you
later died and went to hell, you would feel right at home. Hope this helps.

Exactly! I have the schizoaffective dx myself and this is the definition
that seems most correct. Otherwise, see:

http://www.mentalhealth.com/dis/p20-ps05.html

on that site they have the American description and the European
description. I'm American born and live in Europe. I wonder which
description fits me. Labelling people is such an odd business. Don't take it
too seriously.

Gee, I didn't know my description would be so close as the one on the web
site you sent. I don't know if I have the manic or the depressed phase or a
little of both? I'm thinking maybe both. You and I should compare notes
some more. Where do you live now? I live in Virginia in the US.

Sometimes I think these descriptions closely ressemble horoscopes in that
everybody can see something of themselves in them.

I'm in Switzerland. I have family in Virginia though.
Where in Virginia are you?

I know what you mean. Most anyone feels down from time to time, and feels
like others are against them, and can't concentrate that well. Maybe the
only distinction that's not normal is the feeling of being in a living hell
when you are still on earth.

I once read that sz affective is a catch all diagnosis that many doctors use
for convenience and they should be cautioned not to use it so much.

Did you experience very bad concentration before you were treated? And
paranoia?

Default Re: What is "schizoaffective disorder"? What are some ways that these people behave?

I'm not being treated for schizoaffective but I have fibromyalgia which
causes poor concentration and memory. I'm not being treated for fibromyalgia
either for that matter since there is no known cure.

I guess you could say that I get paranoid sometimes. I imagine what other
people are thinking about me and it's usually something bad. I base such
imaginings on the way they treat me or look at me or sometimes just because
they said something about their personal beliefs and their judgments.

I firmly believe this kind of paranoia comes from living with people whom
you can't trust to tell you things and who talk behind each others' back. In
order to survive in a family like that, you learn to second guess to the
point of becoming paranoid.

You speak of hell. I can't say that my experience is living hell all of the
time. I do get a certain amount of pleasure out of life. Last night though I
had a very bad dream that I died and found myself in a place where the
people were scary, mean and damning. I found it extremely difficult to
speak. When I tried, a sort of growl would come out which I had difficulty
shaping into words. Everyone was a stranger and hostile to me. I knew I was
dead and that people were trying to revive me but I was stuck in that place.
That, I think, is more what hell would be like for me.
I woke up with a headache and vomited.

Default Re: What is "schizoaffectivedisorder"? What are some ways that the...

There is a cure for fibromyalgia! Fibromyalgia is an autoimmune
disease. It is caused by one's own antibodies. First, anything that
diminishes the immune system helps fibromyalgia. Allergies are also an
autoimmune disease. A medication that helps allergies by diminishing the
immune system is Allegra. The side effect warnings for Allegra are cold,
flu,... They don't warn about the cancer that can develope. It's like a
temporary AIDS. A girl took two different kinds of immune system
diminishers and her immune system completely shut down; no more allergic
reactions, but, it was like having AIDS. I don't know if her immue
system came back or not. Diminishing the immune system cures not only
allergies, it cures fibromyalgia, lupus, rhumatoid arthritis
sclaraderma, multiple sclerosis, and some others I forget now.
But, there is a better way. A girl, Arlene, I know, had lupus.
They gave her one year to live. Arlene went down to the Mass General and
they isolated the antibodies that were causeing her lupus. Then, they
took those antibodies and , mixed them with an immune system incitant,
called an adjuvant. Nickel acetate is such an adjuvant. Then they took
the bad antibodies, mixed them with the adjuvant, and injected this
mixture into her blood stream. Her other antibodies attacked them and
attacked all the other bad antibodies in her body. She was cured.
There are easier diseases to cure. If you had skin cancer you
could take a nickel, put a drop of a mixture of salt and vinegar on it,
let it turn into green nickel acetate, scrape some of you skin cancer
off, mix it with the nickel acetate, and rub this mixture into an open
cut. Then your cancer would be cured. Your immune system would totally
destroy it. This can be done with anything biologically unndesirable in
your body.
If this was done with one's sperm, one would be sterilized for
life. The antibodies would perpetually destroy all sperm produced. It is
said that if the sperm even gets into the blood, even without the
aduvant, the immune system will perpetually destroy all sperm for life.
This can be reversed by the same method as curing Arlene's lupus. Good
antbodies can be incited to destroy undesirable antibodies.
Of course, this knowledge is suppressed. And, the FDA thought they
had a problem with Dr. Wilhelm Reich. He only rationalized Taoist
medicine. He simple called Ki, globally bent timespace, "orgone", and
THEY were right on his case. Of course, he also violated the secrets of
the "quickened astral light",again ki, that were published for members
only in 'Morals and Dogma", by Albert Pike, in which all that
information was plagerized by Albert Pike from the past writings of
Louis Constant, alias Eliphaz Levi. You could pick up this book at a
yard sale or thrift shop, but, on the title page all nonmembers were
threatened that it was not to be read by the "profane", us. Of course I
read it cover to cover.
A doctor in the 1930's invented a radio transmitter that could be
tuned to a virus', bacteria's, yeast's, mold's, etc. radio
emmision-absrbtion frequency, thereby destroying these disease
organisms. This simple radio transmitter would cure all the diseases
caused by these germs, but, the knowledge of this is also suppressed. We
have an honorable vocation to spread all these secrets.
