Canada is launching a satellite to monitor the solar system for so-called
"killer asteroids," which might strike earth and be big enough to disrupt
life here or even end it.

The satellite is due to be launched in 2010. Meanwhile, the Mayan calendar
ends in 2012. Koinkydink?

American satellites have already located the asteroid Apophis and
it has been figured that Apophis has a 1 out of 40 chance of hitting the
Earth on April 13, 2029.
