It is so funny: almost 12 years sober, and yet it is these 18 months

As always, it is this group that is my comfort and my conscience.
Thank you all.

Graduation was nice. Boulder sure plays to its own beat: several of
the faculty members onthe stage were in flip-flops with their caps and
gowns ... not exactlywhat I am accustomed to in the uptight East. I
met Meg's boyfriend (very cute, very gentle-tempered) and we all had a
big picinic at a local park abutting the flat irons to celebrate.
My ex was there and my two stepsons (now 27 and 29).. And of course
Tommy and my Mama. It all went peacefully. The ex and I always
yammer on catching up and I think my kids appreciate our efforts to be
friendly. I always get a little bit confused by it, as I get waves of
what it would have been like had I stayed married, with this menagerie
of kids (it was all my decision not to stay, but still the 'what ifs'
hit me)
Now home, have a 15 page paper due Tuesday, my last requirement for my
degree. Then I start to plan the move to LA (how far are you from
LA? We have to plan something when I get out on that coast...) xoxo

I understand the what ifs. It would have been really nice to grow old
with the father of my children, but not *that* particular father.
I haven't seen The Asshole in more years than I can remember. Probably
8 or 10. I don't care except that I'd have liked to have gone to his
father's funeral but didn't because I didn't want to have to deal with
him. It's not that we don't get along and I don't really care what he
did to me, but I can't forgive or forget how he ignored the kids for
so many years (even when he was in the home). The few times we've
been together we've been cordial.
