| | | 4 weeks...Already? So, my quit was on June 3. Today is June 29. I have been Smober for 26
days, or according to my calendar, 4 weeks. I don't which sounds better. I
think days are better.
My urges to smoke were very week to non-existent from the very beginning
when I started Chantix. But the last two days I have had them for some
reason. I am glad I decided to buy the second pack and continue on it.
Usually the urges last about 3-4 minutes and then they're gone. I found
that posting and reading here really helps, but sometimes there is nothing
for me to write. So, I decided on something to write everymorning, just to
put a smile or a frown on your face before you go to work, or have sex or
whatever it is you do after reading here, hehe. What am I gonna do? Well,
I am not going to smoke, and you'll find out what I am gonna do later on,
and every day, till I get kicked out of here.

Hey, AZ, it's great to see your quit is growing up!
It's funny that I had the exact same idea on my mind, as I was opening
your post, I said to myself OK this is the last one, after that I'm
gonna do some more posting. You don't have to be witty and funny like
some of the folks are here. The little everyday stories, it's them I
enjoy reading the most.
Like yesterday, I had some spare time from 7 to 9 am, so went to the
health security office to finally pick up my new HI card. I arrived
there at 7:15 and saw 8 people already waiting, and the office opens
at 7:30. One thing I absolutely hate is waiting in line and it's
really ironic how I always have to wait for things I hate doing
anyway: barber, dentist, doctor...
I already put the car in reverse, then changed my mind the last
second. There was nothing for me to do at home and all I would achieve
is wake up DW (and she LOVES to sleep in the morning).
So I lined up. One of the people in front of me lit up. Three more
people came, and two of them lit up too.
Not so long ago, I was absolutely sure that I will never ever be able
to wait for any amount of time, amidst smokers, and not light up
myself.
But it was easy. I actually felt *sorry* for the poor people!
But I came to realize one thing. That feeling was very very positive
for my quit, to feel sorry for them and not crave for a smoke myself.
After only one month of cold turkey smoberness. That was not me. That
was NOT MY achievement.
It was a gift. A present. A blessing.
You call it how you want, but for me, the important thing is to
realize that it WAS a gift. Is it really important to figure out what
or who it was? I don't think so, besides people are figuring that out
for many millennia.
What is important for me is to feel grateful. Maybe just because
feeling grateful feels good and soothes the soul. Who knows.
But I know what I think.

OMG. Oh dear God on Heaven.
I am not a superstitious person. Religious yes, but barely so in
practical terms.
My Usenet program, Agent, and another little program called
SigChanger, work together to choose a random quote every time I post.
It chooses a tag line from a base of over 10.000 tag lines. That's TEN
THOUSAND. Agent adds the tag line AFTER I click the "send" button, and
I have neither any influence on what will be chosen, not can I know
until I download my own post from the news server or go to the "sent
items" folder.
This is not the first time that I've had the creeps (or the laugh)
from the fact that the random tag line was in tune with my posting.
But it certainly is the most powerful one and just now I feel like hit
with a sledgehammer.

I'm not big on waiting either so I always take a book. I used to do
that even when standing in line at the bank but then they put in a TV
turned to an all news channel. There are a couple of stop lights here
in town that seem awfully long so I read the newspaper while I wait.
My SonicCare toothbrush runs for 2 minutes so I put my book on the
sink counter and read while I'm running it around in my mouth.

I'm kinda math challenged but isn't 4 weeks 28 days? Mind you, 26
days is just great but you might want to check your calendar if it
says that 26 days is 4 weeks. (IOW - get your money back on that
calendar)

days and that really gets the calendar rolling. I'm glad to read that
you, too, decided to go for the second month of Chantix. I do think
taking the med for the full 90 days gives you the time to turn a lot
around in your life so that when triggers show up you can just kick
them in the teeth and go on about your business. I'll look for your
posting of a FMD on Tuesday!!!

Taking a book along is essential of course but this trip wasn't really
planned. At 7:00 I took a number at my ENT's office (early in order
not to get a 3-digit number). To my surprise I got #11 which placed me
somehwere along the 9:00 - 9:30 frame.
I hate stoplights. They are evil! I love living in a place that is not
infected with them!
