Default 7 into 49

.... makes seven weeks, doesn't it?
It was at around 11 o'clock on April 1st that I took that packet of
benson and Hedges from my shirt pocket, and chucked it into the doctor's
wastepaper basket.
So here it is , seven weeks of not breathing in foul smoke, and feeling
a good deal better for it.
That nasty little demon creature hasn't appeared once so far today. He
was looking real miserable and a little frightened last time he showed
up, last evening when I was happily putting away some Scotch.
Now for the 2 months milestone....

That is too cool.
I've heard of quitting while in the hospital, or while sick at home,
but never while in the doctor's office.

Hee Hee! He knows he's beat. Seven weeks may as well be forever; you
really can do it and you have proved it. And nobody can say it has
been easy for you. I think I'll eat a piece of cake in your honor.
(Ok, that's just an excuse to eat cake but what the heck)

Great job, Ian.

Woo Hoo Ian! 7 wonderful weeks of smobriety so far!!! You are
sounding more and more like a non-smoker with each and every post and
I am glad that you are getting here. It does get even better the
longer you stay smober so just keep on kicking butt. Just think, when
you move next month, you will have a totally smoke-free living
arrangement from the get-go! What a sweet reward!

Yes, my attitude to smoking is definitely different: it was part of my
mental furniture, as it were, for almost 50 years. It was like
cigarettes were part of me. I just couldn't see myself without them
around. Most peculiar way of thinking...
The retirement home is of course a No Smoking zone but Laura, who
showed me the apartment, said you can smoke out in the grounds. This
will be the danger area for me. Someone might offer me a fag, and I'm
not sure I wouldn't grab it and accept a light, and be back to the old
fatal addiction. Maybe I'll just stay away from that area.

If you'd seen me that morning, you'd have understood why
I decided to pack it in: i arrived with terrible breathing problems, had
to be wheeled in in a chair with castors because I was too weak to
walk, and the oxygen level in my blood was found to be somewhere around
86 which is dangerously low. The doctor immediately put me on oxygen and
I had an injection for the chest. No improvement after half an hour so
I went on to hospital where the level was found to be up again to 96
which is not bad for someone e with emphysema.
My body was giving me a final Warning!

He was at least seven feet tall for the first two weeks, but as time
went on, he began to shrink a bit, and seemed less sure of himself.
Now he's about two and a half feet high! I can almost feel sorry for
the little brute....
Enjoy your cake!
