about a carton of second hand smoke in 5 minutes

We went on a day trip today and I went into a little store to use the
potty. The owner obviously disregards the state law "no smoking in
public buildings." It was clouded with smoke; I could hardly breathe.
I got back out to the car and told my sister "I think I just started
back smoking again." It was awful.

I guess when you are out on a two lane black top in the mountains you
do what you damn well please and the revenuers are not going to tell
you different. Most of the time it is stores with those video poker
machines and people sit in the back and puff away.

It was a pleasant trip today otherwise. It's really warm here.

I went to a bar in southern California several years ago where the ban
was totally disregarded. However, I *think* the law here may be that
if the store/bar whatever is owner operated with no employees outside
the family it's OK to smoke. I could be entirely wrong. Wouldn't be
the first time. )

I think there are some loopholes here but I am not sure what they are.
I think bars may be exempt from the law but I am not sure.
