Default Another Week Comes to a Close

Yep its that time again, folks. This time is 5 weeks. I have officilly tied
my alltime record for remaining smokefree. In fact I blew it on my 35th day
in 1986. I wont be blowing it this time,so i will beat it!!
Ahhh the joys of being smokefree.
Had lunch with a friend yesterday. Neithr of us smokes. We went to
IHOP.When asked if we wanted smoking or nonsmoking, before I got the chance
to speak up,she said "we dont smoke but we dont care" So wouldnt ya fucking
know it,we ended up in the choking section. It is enclosed except for one
doorway leadig into the room. My God,it stunk in there!!
There was nobody in there smoking, which wouldnt have bothered me. It was the
stale smoke that reeeked so bad. Sorta was wishing my sense of smell hadnt
returned.
Niters all, early day at work tomorrow. Hope to see everyone still quit
when iI get online tomorow afternoon. I will be.

Woo Hoo Becky! Congrats on making it to 35 days and still kicking.
You are doing terrific and are an inspiration for others here.
Yeppers, sitting in the smoking section of a restaurant sucks and I'm
damn glad that is history here in NYC.

Keep hanging in there Becky...I haven't noticed it for a while but early
in my quit I could smell smoke from 1000 yards away. I will never smoke
again, I just wish the goddamn shitsticks were never made available in
the first place.
I got tomorrow off, then I'm hitting the roofs and baking for the rest
of the summer. I'm an air conditioning guy, spend the winters teaching
and the summers baking...

Becky, I am SOOOO proud of you. And I know that you're proud of
yourself. That feeling, I've found, is like nothing else.

As for me, I just hit 2WD. That doesn't sound like much, but it is to
me. I went on the patch April 8 and NEVER could I hit the 2W mark
without cheating and slipping. I haven't cheated, I haven't slipped,
I'm 2WD.

Yay you! Yay me!
(And stay out of the smoking section, would ya? It stinks. Where on
earth do you live where they still have smoking sections in
restaurants? That was deep-sixed in Georgia (except for certain bars)
a while ago.)

((((Becky))))

Love
Ashley

Congratulations on week 5! Your meter just keeps getting older and
older.... or is it better and better? It's both!

Next time your friends volunteers you for the smoking section speak up
and say you do care. Snob that I've become I really can't stand the
odor of a smoking section, especially if it's not aired out well. Not
surprising that it's quite easy to get seated in the smoking section,
isn't it?

Great job, Becky!!!

I'd love to hug you right now and tell you that you are awesome, 'cause
you are.

So here's the digital hug ... ((((Becky)))).

Five weeks is awesome -- and equally so is ten years. What you're doing
right now will get you there, and the voyage becomes easier, and easier,
often witout notice.

Dunno if you're a Zepp fan, but I am ( lol ) so here's "Ten Years Gone"
for you ... http://www.johnphoto.com/retro/tenYearsGone.html

Just Giv'er!

Cheers and Big Hugs,

I doubt it will happen here in Va anytime soon.It keeps coming up,but gets
knocked down by the House of Delegates here.I dont mind actually. I still
get a kick out of going to a restauarant and asking for the nonsmoking
section,just to show off.LOL

I know. The restaurant I work at Cracker Barrel, has 3 dining rooms. Two are
nonsmoking and one is smoking. The nonsmoking dining rooms are usually much
busier than smoking, except on weekends.there are far more requests for non
than for smoking.

I live in Virginia. A BIG tobacco state. Home of Philip Morris.A ban on
smoking in restauarnts keeps coming up but gets shot down every time. There
are lots of plaaces it is banned ,like hospitals, government
buildings, schools, stores etc,but getting it banned in bars and restaurants
is gonna be hard as hell. I sorta would like to see it banned there since I
work in one,and hate it when I have to work the smoking section. I get out
of it whenever i can.It use to be because of less money, but now it is
because of the money, and because I have quit smoking and dont want to deal
with the smoke and the cigarettes tempting me.

Becky - Move to Georgia! No smoking anywhere in bars or restaurants,
so no "choices".
Keep up the good fight. You CAN do this.
Hugs,
Pam

Ah, I see. Yup VA is a huge smoking state so I can see how that would
keep being shot down.
Oh well, we can all just sit in nonsmoking. And yes, isn't that fun to
say? I'll have nonsmoking, thank you!

Well, Pam, there are a *few* bars where you can still smoke, but only
if no one under 18 goes in or works there. So that sort of narrows it
down.
Where in Ga. are you? Have we had this discussion before?
