| | | AS3 Gathering in NYC and Dim Sum Well, we ended up with four of us this evening for dinner. Joyce,
Concord Phil, and Stephanie joined me for an evening of talk about the
group and why it works. We had a great time learning more about
ourselves. I certainly enjoyed hosting the event and do hope to host
another next year or when anyone from AS3 passes through NYC and wants
to meet any of us here.
And yes, EP, we *DID* talk of you! <G>

Missed you Steve and missed you my special quit buddy (John). Mike
brought the gnome and the oinking Horace tHe Hog but they just didn't
take your places.
You'll be thrilled to know that the Gnome and Horace (a honking,
oinking hoggie) sat on the chinese lazy susan amidst our dishes,
spinning around with them.
Poor sweet Phil (nicest guy) has a 1 1/2 hour train ride then 3 hours
of driving TONIGHT to get to his Mama's up in Massachusetts! He
definitely got the award for traveler from longest distance. |

Re Horace the Oinker - our waiter who spoke only the most rudimentary
English comes back to our table to clear, and out of nowhere in
perfect English busts out at the Oinking Horace - 'He's hungry!!!"

I hope it didn't involve repeating any of those nasty accusations Jef made
about my stealing the silverware when I visited him. I am not a thief.
And, anyway, I apologized. I regard the whole incident as forgotten.
I am so jealous that I couldn't be there with you last night.

| | | Re: AS3 Gathering in NYC and Dim Sum Well, We were only able to get the waiter to take one photo with each
camera and they came out very similar. I've already sent Jef. the
photo I have so that he can add it to the QuitBuddies archives of
meets. Stephanie is right that the waiters have more takes on Horace
than he's ever had and he did talk a LOT last night. I was so glad
that Phil was able to make it and I did not envy his drive back that
night as I was on the train and home in 15 mintues and I'm sure Joyce
beat me since she lives on the next block over from the restaurant.
We talked a lot about what in our experiences with quitting worked and
what sort of mindset seems to work best to keep a quit going and not
give in to the Stinkin' Thinkin'. I was asked about my experience
from 10 years ago where I had gotten so revved up talking about not
smoking that for a reason I still can not explain I stopped and bought
a pack of them much to my chagrin. I did get back to AS3 within a
couple of months then but the next quit totally was blown after 3+
years and it took me 6-7 years to get here and real and smober. Our
consensus was that it's best to stay quit as there is NO guarantee
that the next quit will be easy to get started or to maintain. We
mostly did giggle a lot and from all of the gatherings I have been to,
that seems to be a constant thread. Getting smober really does give
us a gift that we love to share and enjoy with others.
