Default AS3 and The Salvation Army

Many folks contribute different things in different ways at different times
for different reasons. For those of you who may be interested, please
accept this personal invitation to join The AS3 Online Red Kettle Group, in
support of The Salvation Army Online Red Kettle campaign.

This year you can help support The Salvation Army by hosting your own Red
Kettle as a member of our group and then ask others to help fill your Kettle
with secure online donations!

A Group Kettle allows members to fundraise independently with their own
Personal Kettles yet all Online Red Kettle
donations will also be reflected automatically in the Group Kettle. You too
can become a vital part of bringing Christmas to those in need by
participating in this year's Online Red Kettle campaign!

Along with our Christmas effort, your donation will help The Salvation Army
continue to provide help to those less fortunate all year long.

Doing your part is especially easy this year.

1. Visit our Group Kettle page to get started.
2. Create your own Kettle and set a Kettle goal.
3. Send emails, raise money! An automatic tax receipt is sent to each
donor and you can manage thank you acknowledgements manually through the
system.

If you are unable to host your own Kettle, I hope you will consider making a
tax-deductible online donation supporting the efforts of our group. Online
giving is convenient and secure.

Warmest Holiday Wishes!

P.S.
If you do not wish to be a part of this effort please disregard the message.
It is hereby posted and understood that being a part of the AS3 community
does not mean you endorse AS3's Salvation Army effort.

What a lovely idea. Although I won't participate in this way I do
give to Salvation Army. I save my change throughout the year and take
it directly to our local Army headquarters. Last year it was about
$40 and should be about that this year, too. It's easier for me to do
this than to actually find a kettle.
You probably didn't read the story of "my" cat, Fred, and I'm not sure
I ever told the "rest of the story". I shared a cat with the
neighbors to whom Fred technically belonged. I think he liked my
house better because I gave him canned food instead of the dry they
provided. I also have cushioned patio furniture. He spent a lot more
time at my house than theirs. Anyway, several months ago Fred got
sick and the neighbors weren't home so I took him to the vet. They
needed $200 down payment for his care which I gladly gave. He died
before the neighbors came home and the total bill was about $365. I
told the neighbors that I would split the bill with them more or less
and just gave them the bill for the balance. They absolutely insisted
on giving me the $200 because he was "their" cat. I didn't really
have the heart to tell them that he really wasn't their cat and tried
not to take the money but they continued to insist. So, I took the
$200 to the Salvation Army and explained that the donation was in
honor of Fred. I never told the neighbors.
Working in Social Services I refer lots of people. That's why I
prefer that my donations be direct to the local outfit. Also, one of
my co-workers has just been appointed to the board.
Good luck with your endeavor.
Sue

Great idea August,
We support our local "Christmas daddies" which raises money then gives out
food certificates to needy families at x-mas time.
