Default Best conga line ever...and words of wisdom for the newbies

Thanks to all who posted their meters earlier today.
It was really good to see the newbies join in.
You all can do this! It's just a matter of never ever taking another puff.
For those of you who don't know my story, well...let's see...

I smoked for 27 years and the last 13 of those years I actively tried to
beat this addiction.
Patches, gum, hypnotherapy, books, courses, zyban...hell, you name it and I
tried it. To make a long story short, it was finding www.whyquit.com (a
site dedicated to cold turkey smoking cessation) where I finally found my
AH-HA moment. Well, the rest is history.

What I'm saying is that if one method doesn't work for you, try another and
if that doesn't work, try another and keep trying dammit until you find YOUR
"ah ha" moment. For me it was as simple as "never take another puff" to
succeed and beating this addiction. Well, I also did a ton of reading and
learning about relapse prevention, motivation reinforcement, and so forth.
After all knowledge is power!!! For real!

For me, gaining control of this addiction was a second full time job and
believe me, I took it serious. No phucking around this time. No self pity.
No whining about missing my smokes and wishing that I could have just one.
No junkie thinking. No more playing the victim that "boo hoo, I can't quit"
or "boo hoo, it's too hard to quit". No more focusing on the hurt and
horror. Instead I learned to focus my energy on the freedom and healing
that was occurring at that time..and still continues to this day.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you must do what YOU have to do to
beat this addiction. Don't take 13 years to figure this shit out...post
often, read every day, research, learn, listen, ask, and never stop trying.
AS3 is here for you.

To finish this off...I don't post nearly as much as I used to, but please
know that I wish each and every one of you the best. You CAN do this.
There is simply NO room for failure with this addiction. If you continue to
smoke, or toy with the thought of just having one, it WILL kill you. After
all there is NO such thing as one...and many of you can already confirm
that.

Please, just never have another puff.

Thank you for reading. And thank you AS3. Between you and WhyQuit I got my
life back.

Best Regards,

Thank you Echo, for one inspiring and powerful message. Your message
is an inspiration for all of us, especially those who are just now
taking the plunge for smobriety. I totally agree to keep trying until
you find the spot in your life where you know THIS is your last quit.
Getting smober is the best way to tell yourself 'I love you'.

Ohhh sweetie, what a fantastic post!

My Ah-ha moment was when I finally got it thru my head that I was an addict
and could never have ONE cig.

Thank you for helping me get there.

hugs,
Cat

Wise words!

I believe getting over the "Crap! I can't smoke!" part is the biggest
phucking hurdles and possibly one of the major keys to a good solid quit.

You're not losing anything ... you're gaining!

Congrats again on TWO YEARS!

Cheers!
