Well, I had my buttered popcorn all set and the lights turned low and
was ready to watch your movie. Damn computers. I got a message under
"Bread - the movie" that told me I needed to click to download plugin.
So, I clicked on that. This brought me to the plug in finder which
advised me that the plug in was available - Windows Media Player 11.
Upon clicking on finish I got a message telling me that Netscape (yes,
I know they aren't supported) finished installing this missing plug
in. Upon clicking "finish" I was brought right back to Bread - the
movie" and advised once again to click to download the plugin. So,
this time rather than actually believe the computer when it said that
Netscape had finished installing I clicked on "manual install" which
brought me to a web site for something called "Port 25". I was
advised at this point that I could "download the Windows Media Player
Firefox plugin". Now that sounded like it ought to be just the
ticket. It was at this point that the first thought of smoking
entered my mind, but, full of hope and expectation (after all, this
was leading up to a Marvelous Marvin production) I clicked on
"download now". It says I'm supposed to have Windows XP SP2. I do
not know if mine is SP2. I do not know much. I think where things
went horribly wrong was at the point wherein I was advised that this
would be saved to disk. I do not know what this means. "Open with
<box>" was not an option. (Another smoking thought enters empty
head.) I bravely click on OK to save to the disk thingy (what choice
do I have?). This spawned a little pop up box in the lower right hand
corner that said "downloads complete". It said something else
encouraging but it disappeared to quickly for me to write it down. At
this point, full of hope I was ready for the curtain to go up. Well,
it may have completed its download to somewhere but I'm pretty sure it
wasn't to *my* computer. I closed Netscape, clicked on your link and
was right back where I started with Bread - the movie and "click here
to download the plugin". BTDT. Deja vu.
I hope you get an Academy Award. I'm sure it's worthy.
Sue - no longer thinking about smoking. |

Man, I enjoyed that. Do you have any rosemary bread to dunk in

Well, that was just hunkie dory. Lovely bread and nice glove ya got
there.
Again, I should not be allowed near a computer. I just noticed that I
now have 3 firefox icons on my desk top. Just out of curiosity I
clicked on one and then found that I hadn't actually installed the
plug in or whatever the hell it is. So, I went through that little
procedure, but I still couldn't view your movie. Got the same "click
here to download the plug in". Well, I got something out of the deal
- I just don't know what. But, I *did* get to see your bread and
that's what I wanted. Thanks!

I used to work as an usher at The Janus Theatres in Washington, D.C. This
was in the days when theatres still had actual ushers who carried
flashlights, showed you to your seats, and checked the theatres for smokers
and people making noise and so on. We were required to wear these monkey
suits-- red jackets w/ black lapels; black pants with a red stripe down the
outside seam; white shirts; clip-on black bow ties. We looked like bogus
little ambassadors from some very questionable country. These get-ups
wouldn't even be worn by the cheesiest Motown act...
The jackets all had "JANUS" embroidered on the breast pocket. We'd use
safety pins (inside the jacket, stuck thru all but the outermost layer of
material) to pin the left lapel down and slightly to the left so it read
"ANUS". Our way of sticking it to the asshole theatre owner-- a man with
true delusions of adequacy. |

Around here it was the cotton gin (for my older kids as I wasn't
raised here - we went to SF for the opera for our big field trips).
My younger kids got to go to museums, The Nutcracker and stuff a
little more worldly than the gin.

Yep Mrs. Bairds or Rainbow (which is better than Mrs. Bairds).... We ate
some of the hot fresh bread and then they took us to the day-old store
in back and we could pick something out from the assortment of twinkies,
ho-hos, honey buns, etc.
Years later, I worked in an office just down the street from the bakery.
It nearly killed me because I could smell that bread all day
long....Mmmmmmmmmm...........

Lol, the place where I grew up didn't have science centers or nature
places. They only have one museum. We went there about every 2 or 3
years. The Lays potato chip plant was always a big favorite, too.
Nothing quite like hot, fresh Fritos and potato chips! (And I wonder
why I have a food problem!?) ;D

My kids have had all kinds of field trips. Daughter went to the Cooper
Clinic for health class. And they went to the fed. reserve office here
to see how money was shredded for government class. Both kids have had
trips to Six Flags. The youngest has been to the zoo, the railroad
museum (VERY cool), a working farm, Enterprise City (a city run by
kids), a week of "summer camp" in May (that was pretty cool, too), the
Science Place, and many more.
The camp experience was really cool. Our school district takes EVERY
5th grader to various camps in Texas and Oklahoma (different schools go
to different camps), where they spend a week hiking, canoing, and all
the other stuff kids do at camp. It's all done with classroom tie-ins.
I got to go as a chaperone, and I'm so glad I did. It was a truly
cool thing for a lot of kids who are raised in the city -- many have
never been or will never go to a summer camp. Almost every one of them
will tell you it's the highlight of their 5th grade year.

Our school district here had one of those. Not quite as fun as yours
(no water activities as far as I know). Camp Green Meadows. I don't
think they do it anymore.
There was also a major 8th grade trip to either Washington DC or
Florida that they were doing when my youngest two were in Junior High.
Their classes went to Florida.
In Alaska the kids went on no field trips unless you count the 4th
grade week long afternoon swimming lessons in the afternoon in Homer
(16 miles away).

I forgot that the younger ones got to go to the Hershey's Chocolate
Factory which, sadly, closed a couple of weeks ago.
