| | | Busiest group on usenet?
I just ran a little program, SNZCOUNT.EXE, and it tells me there are at
present 57 contributors to this group, with 285 messages in all, over a
three day period.
Of course, it's impossible to estimate the number of lurkers who are
reading but not posting.
This is a
huge contrast to the dozen or so other groups I currently d/load, where
some go for weeks with no messages at all, and some have onlyh a half
dozen people in them.
Conclusion: giving up smoking is of compulsive interest to a great many
people!

And it also is of life and death interest to many of us. BTW, you're
doing great Ian. Keep up the good quit!

| | | Re: Busiest group on usenet? Yes, Ian, we do post a lot. Maybe as much as we used to smoke -- at
least for some of us. But this group is such a great place to share
successes and ask questions and get the care and support we need to
stay smober. I've posted over 4000 posts since I joined last February
and am glad I've done so.

You've been a busy poster and a very important member of this group.

or quadruple the base. A lot of us rarely post or post very
sporatically.

| | | Re: Busiest group on usenet? Well Mike M, according to Google, there are over 920 folk subscribed
to the NG although I do suspect many of them are folks who have been
here at one time or the other and did not delete their profile when
they stopped visiting here. I do know that when Tihomir posts the
monthly statistics for the group there usually are over 100 of us who
post at least once and I have heard privately from some lurkers so I
do know they are with us.

I lurk in several groups and this is the only one in which I have
posted. I knew that I needed help and the internet is where I usually
come to find it. I thought I would get information here, I didn't know
I would find friends, too. Everyone here is so nice and funny and
supportive. I have let down my guard and been honest and been
authentic and no one has zinged me (yet). I just wish you were all
here sitting on my couch. I would fix you brownies and iced tea.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding, I was in no way criticizing you all
for posting in large numbers!
Quite the contrary - as I said, very few n/groups seem to carry much
of interest these days, so this one makes a refreshing change.
And, of course, the knowledge that others are battling to give up the
weed, and that others yet have already done it and stayed clear for
ages, is of great help to me. 'They can do it, well, hell, I'm not going
to be beat by them am I?' sort of thing.
