| | | Chantix Advice I am posting to give, not ask "advice" on Chantix and it's
effectiveness.
As I stated in my 2 week yeeha posting (Anudda Milestone) last Sunday
evening, I had put the Chantix away prematurely. The last one I took
was Thursday (Thanksgiving) and I didn't really notice much until
yesterday (Tuesday, 11-27). What I did notice was the crankiness,
irritability, and just the bad mood I got in upon awakening yesterday.
It lasted all day long, and by the time I got home, I was almost ready
to head to the store and get me a pack ;-( I had quit before (twice)
and this feeling was not new to me, this was probably the worst part
about nico withdrawal, the shitty feelings that come to you. I felt
depressed, mad at the world, all kinds of bad feelings.
So, I decided I better get back on this Chantix. I took one last
night, and am back taking them regular now, 1 Mg twice a day per Doc's
orders. I have 5 weeks supply left and plan on taking them all the way
out to the new year.
For those that asked, I appreciate the concern. I now have to admit
that I was certainly wrong in thinking it was OK to quit them.
The best part of this post is below ;-)

is becoming quite popular and any help you can give someone else on this
method is going to be appreciated.

needed to go back on. you made a great choice.

| | | Re: Chantix Advice Steve! I am glad that you did figure this out and got back on the Chantix when you did. I used it for the full 90 days and found that
it did a great job of weaning me off the sickerettes very easily and
with very little bloodshed compared to prior quits. You may find that
you only need one pill a day later on as you get yourself more smober
and your body is adjusting but for now, do take the two pills a day
and 'keep on keeping on'. You can do this and do come here and post
as much as you need.

Well, I didn't do Chantix, but my mom is on it, and she's now over 5 months
quit after 50 years of smoking. That stuff really works! Stick with it,
you're doing wonderfully.

I have achieved ten months, one week, six days, 25 minutes and 1 second, of
smoke-free living (and, with it, rather aggressive driving). This amounts to
9510 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2,258.75, and adding 4 weeks, 5 days, 30
minutes to my fabulous life.

I, too, quit by using Chantix. I took the full 12 course of the meds.
I personally think that a lot of the problems experienced by Chantix
instructions faithfully and had the easiest quit I have ever
experienced. I can't even describe for you how this quit was different
than the others because it was on so many different levels. I don't
care what they say about it, Chantix was a miracle drug for me, and I
will continue to sing it's praises! (I even taught the song to the
yodeling gnomes, hope you don't mind Mike... LOL)

| | | Re: Chantix Advice I was taking Chantix as well... I stopped after 12 days convinced that
everything that was going on with me was a side affect from the
Chantix. And sure enough the very next day I was craving like crazy. I
kept thinking who can I bum a cigg off of... I think it's been 3 or 4
days now that I haven't taken the Chantix, and yes I'm still thinking
about bumming Cigarettes. But I'm making it through. And still not
smoking.. Anyways.. that's just my story....

Chantix was the miracle for me that Cindy described.
I took it 4 weeks before my last cig, and 8 or 9 after.
Somewhere in that 8 or 9 I lowered my dose from 2 pills a day to one.
Many of the symptoms I blamed on Chantix, were nicotine withdrawal
etc.
I found an article recently that described the symptoms of liver
detox.
It sounded a whole lot like the complaints I've heard from Chantix
users.
BUT....... bottom line.
If you've been 3 or 4 days without Chantix and without smoking, you're
dug in.
What ever you did to avoid picking up a cig the last 3 or 4
days........ Keep doing it.
I'm glad you didn't have to freeze your ass in your little dress this
weekend. |

| | | Re: Chantix Advice I wondered where that Chantix ditty came from, Cindy! <G> I do agree
with you that it was a miracle drug for me in making this quit start
out as strongly as it has and I totally have NO desire to suck on a
sickerette at all. I do realize that not all are able to utilize this
medicine but I think sometimes they have not taken it the way it is
prescribed or are over sensative to side-effects that I simply rode
right through. I'm sure the fact that I already take enough meds and
suppliments to keep a third world country going helped me to not
notice any specific side effect the Chantix might have created.
Just my $.03 opinion.

I got backspace happy and deleted part of my own message! LOL It
*should* have read:
I personally think that a lot of the problems experienced by Chantix

faithfully and it was the easiest quit I have ever experienced.
Good thing you all knew what I meant anyway. LOL
