realised I had left my lozenges at home.I decided I would get by without
them.It went well. I went 4 hours and not the first urge for nicotine.i did
eat some Lifesavers I stopped and bought.I am almost out of lozenges. I am
thinking of just using the patch.I still have a bunch left.they are cheaper
than the lozenges.

| | | Re: Day 19 ends on a good note Becky, use whatever works BEST for you! If it's the lozenges, then
get some more. If you think you'll do ok with the patch then use
them....you might still want to keep lifesavers (or Altoids) on
hand, too. I used the patch and Altoids for quite a while. Do it YOUR
way...heal thyself.... :-)

WOW....you are brave Becky...to open it up to all thoughts and
opinions...gawd knows we have lots of them here...and coming from
all directions too.
Since you did open it up....my thoughts and opinion:
Becky is quite capable of staying smoke free without any aids
whatsoever - she just doesn't know that sometimes. With that
reality comes the logical conclusion...Becky should do what Becky
needs to do - within the limits of the law - to stay smober.
You CAN and WILL do this Becky. You've got a great start with
almost three weeks going here. Before you know it, it'll be a full
month...then two months....then you'll be QOF....and then you'll
wake up to be an Old Fogie. YES!!!! This is your future.
Believe it. Live it. Breathe It !!!!
There is no law anywhere that says Becky can't do what thousands of
others have done. And she IS doing it !!!!
Wow....I feel like a pep rally now.

here of "do whatever works" by changing that to "do what you have been

lozenges have gotten you this far, thus they are working. Why fuck with

My advice would be to re-up on the lozenges, but that's just my advice.

I agree with you, Steve. The lozenges have been working so stick with

You are breathing clean air(NASCAR term, lol). I would stick it out a bit
longer on the lozenges since they are working and have more clean air under
your belt before you make any changes. I know they are more expensive, but
the alternative is very, VERY, expensive.
I have been going to AA meetings as well, as the booze demon has been after
me.
Stay the course, my friend. The rewards are excellent

My opinion.......
Keep the lozenges handy and only use them as a last resort.
Try to stick to lifesavers as much as possible.
Let's start talking months before we make major changes. |

Bellybutton statement time, just like those, everyone has an opinion.
In general, you gotta do what is and will work for you Becky. I think
I read someplace that on average it takes 3 weeks to break a routine/
habit and 3 weeks to get into a new one. I would say, stick it out
with the lozenges for another couple of weeks, keep putting off that
time between lozenges ONLY if you feel like you want to. Have those
lozenges on hand though.
Switching over to just the patch will be a change from the ups and
downs of the craves and lozenges though, it's a constant supply. What
worked for me (this time) was having the patch on 24/7, getting a
constant steady amount into my system. The cravings still came, but
after the first week on the patch, I started recognizing my triggers.
I do have the past experience of only having the patch on during the
day and removing at night, but that was the equivalent of having a 12
hour cigarette and then having a 12 hour crave.
The only thing I would say is, if the lozenges are working for you,
stick with those. When you want to drop off the lozenge amount, I
would suggest lifesavers or some other higher end candy. You are doing
great, and if anything, pay attention to the wise words from "My Name
is Earl"...
"Someone told us to try carrot sticks as a substitute, but we couldn't
get the damn things to light."
I'm still here, and you are doing great still being here too Becky,

| | | Re: Day 19 ends on a good note I agree with Steve. The best way to quit NRT, IMHO, is the way many of us
have -- by simply forgetting to use the stuff! Sure, you gain confidence
knowing your can have a life saver instead. You can keep the lozenges in a
closet instead of in your purse, or wherever. But keep some around until
you get more confidence.
