| | | Day 6 Post Day 6 starts in just a few hours....close enough to do a post!
After convincing nearly everyone in the group that I had a serious issue
with what day I was on in yesterday's post, going to have to watch my
feeble attempt at humor from now on.
One of the things about being a retread quitter, there are few
surprises. This, I think, is both good and bad. Good in that I know
what to expect and remember tools to cope that were painfully learned a
decade ago. Bad in that the novelty and sense of new adventure is
greatly diminished. I can't even look forward to the tubs with same
excitement I had, cause I was there once. Although I CAN and DO look
forward to the new Variety Pack OF crowns.
To try to fit in a bit better, thought today I'd to try to work up a
good rant. Its somewhat difficult because my heart isn't really in it,
but here goes.....
F%#!$%......G&*D#$M......S$%*#$!@#$......blahhhhhh hhhhh
Nah....I just don't have it in me. Maybe I'm getting too old to rant
and rave.
Having read of the trials and tribulations of those quitting with
various aids, I must put out a plug for (drum roll):
COLD TURKEY
Yes boys and girls, 3 days of teeth grinding, jumping out of one's skin,
sleeplessness, and sheer frustration and its all over - the physical
part.
My first real quit (that one over a decade ago that lasted 18 months)
was done with 6 weeks of patches. This quit has been done Cold Turkey.
I mention this so you understand I do have a point of comparison for the
two quitting methods.
Just as when I first quit with the use of patches, my first quit Cold
Turkey was an eye opener. I could actually do it !!! I think its a
lot easier when I KNOW I can do it than when I just HOPE I can do it.
Fear is a factor in my quit today. But fear, I think, can be a healthy
thing. Its probably better I'm afraid of not making it than being
overconfident and letting my guard down. That's what happened at the 18
month point on that first quit. My guard was totally down and I didn't
see the need of continuing to work a reovery program.
Oh wow....just scrolled back up....didn't mean for this post to be this
long. Tomorrow's will be much shorter...promise.

totally fine. You are right that a second [or third or fourth ad
nauseum] quit is nothing like the first one where each and every thing
that pops up is new and untested. Still, I am glad that I have quit
so many times before this one as I feel that I have finally learned
how to keep on track and smober and be proud to be me, a non-smoker!
Keep up the good work and we'll celebrate your FWD tomorow!

Let's get something straight right now! You will **never** be too old
to rant and rave. NEVER, get it? You just have to be properly
motivated.
The good thing about getting older (other than the obvious!) is that
you can rant and rave about anything! Yes, it's true. Your rants
don't have to be limited to the topic at hand. You may feel free to
fly off the handle about, for example: 1) the price of milk, 2) your
newspaper being tossed into the puddle, 3) the price of tea in China,
4) anything else that pisses you off at the moment.

since I too am an AS3 retread quitter. I agree that the novelty and

this nagging fear that I had lost my opportunity to be a non-smoker. But
all of us retreads (I love that term, btw) have proven that as long as
one has the willingness to try again, one can be a successful quitter.
