| | | Experience, strength, and hope I first quit using AS3 10 years or so ago. Two years or so into my quit,
I smoked "just one". Eight years of smoking later, I'm back in AS3 and
doing pretty well, all things considered. My point is that because of
the way that AS3 folks are (more about sharing experience, strength, and
hope than about lecturing people), I always felt like I could come back
here and be welcomed with open arms. Totally unlike how I would feel
when I watched one of those anti-smoking ads... all they ever did for me
was to get my back up and spark all those mental defense mechanisms many
of us used as smokers to justify what we were doing. So thank you to
everybody for the environment that you've created here. You're the
biggest asset I have in my quit. The way I see it, AS3 is saving me from
a fate worse than death. And I don't say that lightly. Pretty heavy shit
but really cool
Phil
I haven't smoked in 1 Week, 4 Days, 6 hours, 12 minutes and 53 seconds
and that means that the TC and the taxman didn't get $56.28 of my money.
The TC gets to keep 225 sickarettes and I get to spend an extra 18 hours
and 45 minutes of my life hangin' out with people I care about. |

Phil - You are doing great. I have a drinking problem, but I have been
smober since 12-14-04. Now I need to figure out how to get rid of the
booze, also.

It is just as easy, if you have the right attitude versus being controlled

Welcome home, Phil. I know that I could never have quit smoking
without the help of this newsgroup. I stopped coming here for a
while, but I never quit quitting. Then a couple of months ago,
FlatironMike contacted me with a proposal for a New York city brunch.
Yes, I said, yes, yes, yes. And so I came back to the NG, met a whole
lot of new quitters, reconnected with old quitmates, and I hope that I
can resume helping those who are struggling with the nastiest
addiction on earth. And yes, we had a great brunch here in early
June.
Be strong. Don't smoke. Not even one. Especially not one.

It's YOUR determination, persistence, and positive outlook that's making
this quit a reality. We're just here to make sure you stay the course.
And it's a pleasure to do so. :-)
