| | | Fewer triggers I seem to be experiencing fewer triggers the past few days. Not sure why
or if they'll pick up again and I really don't care. I've proven to
myself that I can blow right past them.
ConcordPhil
I haven't smoked since 7/8/2007 2:30 PM. That's 3 Weeks, 4 Days, 1 hour
and 33 minutes. The Tobacco Company and the taxman didn't get $125.31 of
my money. They can take their 501 sickarettes and shove 'em right up...
Anyway, I get to live an extra 1 Day, 17 hours and 45 minutes. |

You are at a critical point for me. At 3 weeks the depression was bad.
I didn't want to smoke, but the depression was tough. At about 6 weeks
the depression lifted and now it's much better than 3 weeks. Hang in
there - it is going to get better.

You're doing great, Phil!! It gets easier every day. You're learning
that.
I'm curious, though. What made you quit in the middle of the
afternoon? I also had my last stink stick mid afternoon, but that was
when I was admitted to the hospital.

mushy before; I'm going mushy now, and I will go mushy again. AS3 is a
big part of why I'm not smoking and as far as I'm concerned, saved me
from a fate worse than death (I wish that didn't sound trite... but it
is what I mean to say - a fate worse than death).
BessieBee wrote: "What made you quit in the middle of the afternoon?"
Short answer: That was when I ran out of smokes.
Long answer: Well, I bought a carton of smokes on or about June 30th
just before the State of NH raised the cigarette tax and I swore (for
probably the thousandth time) that it would be the last carton I ever
bought. The difference this time? I stopped bullshitting myself and came
back to AS3 after having stayed away for seven (eight?) years. AS SOON
(yes, I'm shouting) as I started lurking, I felt like I was back home.
So the last smoke was gone about 2:30 on July 8th and that's why I quit
in the afternoon. I made it that first day probably by just being
totally pissed off at myself for having waited so long but from the
second day forward it was by reading and posting in this newsgroup and
chewing the shit out of the nicotine gum.

I haven't smoked since 7/8/2007 2:30 PM. That's 3 Weeks, 4 Days, 6 hours
and 43 minutes. The Tobacco Company and the taxman didn't get $126.39 of
my money. They can take their 505 sickarettes and shove 'em right up...
Anyway, I get to live an extra 1 Day, 18 hours and 5 minutes.

Just keep on truckin! You quit about 5 days after I did (thanks for
your reply to my earlier thread, too).
This past week, for me, has definitely been pretty good - very few
cravings. In fact, for the most part, I had just 1 craving today and
it was more like a thought than a crave. Something reminded me of
smoking and I had a tiny crave.. but I was more suprised (and happy)
that I noticed the cravings were mostly gone now.
I've heard that no two people (really) have the same quit experience,
but for myself I found that the first 6 or 7 days are the worst. After
that, it just gets better. By 3 or 4 weeks, smoking should mostly be
a memory that may surface sometimes, but doesn't really bother you.
Unfortunately, 2 years ago, I let that get to my head - thinking I
could smoke "just 1", and that totally backfired on me.
Be happy and proud of where you are now. It should only get easier as
time goes on.
Oh, it's past 8:30pm.. July 3 to Aug 3, makes that 1 month official
