Thanks for sharing this, Sue. Some days I feel terrible about Nick
attending this school. It was hell when I went there, and it is still hell
now. The kids picking on him are the kids of those who picked on me. There
are days when I wish we could afford to just pack up and leave.....start
fresh somewhere else.....I really need to win the lottery. If I do, I will
take you to a Braves game, and you can help me plan my revenge against all
these fucking pinheads that live here. I have spent the week trying to come
up with solutions for these problems, and none are happening. See, now that
he's fighting back, *he* has a problem. Not the bullies, but him. I tried
explaining that if the only place that Nick has a problem is at this
particular school (we can go anywhere and he will make friends and fit in)
then the problem is situated at the school, not a function of Nick. Fucking
assholes. Sorry to unload...having a shitty week.

Love you, Sue

aww kiddo you aren't the onl;y one. on the second last day of school some
shitwick thought it would funny to take my oldest boy's ballhat and shove it
down the toilet with a ruler stick. This was Michael's favorite ball hat and
with him having autism he gets very attached to his stuff with everything
has to be perfect and not changed.
His principal called and told me and said he would pay for a new hat ( this
new principal is wonderful )but Michael told his teacher and his teacher
(god bless him and his wife) got the janitor to fish it out and the teacher
brought it home and cleaned it and sanitized it ( no idea with what) and
brought it back to him. PLUS the janitor told one of the grocery stores what
happened and they gave him a hat for Michael which he got today, hell he
even wore it which is something , change is difficult with these kids.

We spent 7 years with bullies and my first instinct is to kill the little
motherfuckers then their parents for raising such little shits but my calmer
and less violent husband talks me down and deals with the school everytime.
he is at school almost daily checking in on things. He works for the school
or I should say school board

Want a piece of advice? don't let a single inccident go by without you
letting the school know you are there and want answers. be the mother from
hell get the police involved.make the school call the other parents while
you are there, and rmemeber you are not that little kid who was picked now
you an adult and a parent and should be treated with respect.
and if that doesn't work call me I will catch a train and we can kick some
motherfucker asses.

Awwwwwww.....I hope you know who the little bastard was and rose
bowled him for an hour. ((((((Michael))))) I am glad that the
teacher, principal and janitor stepped up. And I am very glad that
Michael got his hat back. Nick had the same experience this year. He
took his birthday money and bought himself a 40 dollar ball cap. It
is now missing, and amazingly one of the bullies now has the same
hat. Fucking little bastards. Dealing with children with
disabilities is very hard, Nick has ADHD and it is a challenge. Right
now the fun at school is to bug him about his meds. Like he's a drug
addict. I get so frustrated.

Thanks for the words of advice, Lynn. I do find it hard to deal with
the teachers, since they taught me and I still feel like that loser
kid who never fit in whenever I go there. I am the one who talks
tough but lets the school board and the teachers walk all over me.
Next time we have a meeting, I am taking a printout of this with me to
give me strength. /me wipes a tear. Thanks Lynnie, you made me feel
better. Love you.

I hope that next week will be better. There's nothing in the world
worse than seeing our kids hurt.
Here's another story from Alaska involving my oldest daughter. She's
the only one of my kids that was subjected to much bullying as far as
I know. This one time a boy picked her up and put her into a trash
bin in the foyer of the school when she was leaving to walk home. She
was pretty upset and humiliated. My girls played Little League up
there and one girl who was on their team had won a bat in some
drawing. She wasn't from our town and hadn't been at the drawing to
pick it up so I was in charge of getting it to her. Shortly after the
trash can incident her school came to our school for a volleyball game
and since I was pretty sure she'd be there I brought the bat along.
The stands were really full, but, oddly enough, I spotted the kid
who'd put Jennifer in the can so, he having also spotted me coming
into the gym with this baseball bat, I kept his eye as I walked across
the gym to the bleachers. The look on his face told me that he was
sure I was coming for him. The menacing look on my face said the same
thing. ) He had quite a relieved look when he saw me hand the bat
over to the girl who had won it. It was beautiful!!

Living well is the best revenge.

This was difficult, even for Google. George Herbert was a poet and a
priest (1593-1633) and the line is attributed to him. He wrote such a
great quantity of works but the line is not quoted anywhere in
Wikipedia. It's funny that I have used this line myself, in
conversation and in letters written to friends. I vaguely thought it
was from F. Scott Fitzgerald but not so. It's a great line and I will
probably continue to use it. Quitting smoking is a large part of
"living well."

Be Strong. Don't Smoke. Not even one. Especially not one.

That's good stuff, Sue.
I once beat the crap out of the wrong kid on the school bus because I
thought he was messin with my little brother. Then my brother comes up
and says, "No, not THAT one!"

Oops. Sorry, kid. But I will say that kid never did bother my
brother.

(((SARAH))) Sorry you're having difficulties with the school. It would
be frustrating indeed if they don't understand that he is just trying
to defend himself. I had a shitty time in school too. When I was in
7th grade I went to a private school. I was on scholarship and I was
made fun of because my family wasn't rich and I didn't dress as well
as the other kids. Isn't that awful???

Big hugs to you, Sarah. We're here if you need us.

No we didn't find out who did it and probably never will. more than likely a
grade 8'er since it will be their last year at this school. If Nick is like
Mike then he gets worked up when kids tease and the hard part is for the
boys to at least pretend to let it roll off their backs. Michael is a school
program called SLD it helps teached them to ask for what they need , be an
advocate for themselves, also for Michael it gives them a chance to take
test orally and and use some equipment to help with his reading etc. plus a
ton of other stuff in a very small group usually with only one other or two,
so they can focus
Your school probably has something similiar and it is a big help with kids
who have ASD or ADHD. call the school board and see.We had to fight a long
time to get him the help he needed and we got the ped doctor involved and
veryone we could think of. we don't let one bully incident go by without
letting the school know, we drilled it in both boys heads their first stop
is to tell someone teacher, montiors, principal and tell more than one then
come tell us, most times we don't get told except by the principal when the
is taken care of. after a bit the bullies get tired of getting in trouble
and pick on someone else who lets it happen to them.

or so we hope

My mother (who could afford it) offered to send my older two girls to
boarding school, but I declined for just that reason. They wouldn't
have fit in, weren't raised that way, wouldn't have had the clothes
and so forth.
