| | | Gawd I feel like Becky tonight Actually I'd love to meet the lady....LOL
Seriously though, I usually get to take my summers off, I don't get paid
for them and if I was frugal and money wise it would be be a great deal.
However, I cannot save a cent and must have cash flow so I work summers.
Today when I finally got all my tools off the roof and into the van,
started the engine and turned on the a/c..37°C in Abbottsford today...I
was drinking a bottle of ice water and I spied a package of cigarettes
in the door storage compartment (I was using another guys van, he's off
on WCB for a couple weeks). I picked up the pack, opened it...11
sickarettes left in the package, took one out..sniffed it, put it back
in the pack and tossed it back into the storage compartment and cursed
and swore for about 5 minutes and never even thought about it again all
the way home. Besides I didn't have a lighter handy but I could have
stopped and fired up the turbotorch in the back.
But I really did want a goddamn fucking smoke this afternoon, the crave
was jesus christ on a stick huge....I beat the slimy little nicodemon
again
Not a great rant but a great ending, I didn't smoke today, tomorrow is
another day...thank you as3

| | | Re: Gawd I feel like Becky tonight Dave! Your story certainly rings with me. I have had times where I
ran into an unexpected sickerette and the thought jumped upside my
head to smoke the fucker. So far, I have been able to take that deep
breathe and appreciate that I can breathe better again and just go
on. Your quit is going great and you're gettng close to HOF. Keep on
keeping on and you'll be another Hero in my book.

long week for me and my brain is starved for oxygen.
No disrespect to you Becky you are a wonderful person and I love your

not smoking those smokes. Way to go man you ROCK!!

Well done on beating this one Dave. This post and Mike's answer
reminded me of early in my quit. I was walking to the shop around the
corner and someone smoking in front of me dropped half a lit cigarette
on the pavement in front of me I nearly picked it up and took a drag.
This reminds us all that early on we have to be very careful of these
"Drive by craves" for want of a better phase.
Well done Again

that yet. 37 is friggin hot isn't it? aaarghhhh, I hate the summertime
heat.
It is pretty hard to save money when you are under stress, quit smoking,
have a family illness, live close to Costco, don't feel too bad,
besides, what else is there to do? Eat? LOL, I would.

And getting hotter for the next couple days according to the
forecasters. Oh well, good for us a/c guys, lots of work, too bad 99%
of is on a frigging roof where its 10° hotter than on the ground. My
choice to be there though.
I'm hitting the shower and getting an early start on the day.

Good for you, Dave. I think tests like this are good for us as they
let us give ourselves a pat on the back and a great feeling of
accomplishment. Pride is a good thing and you should be very proud of
yourself.

| | | Re: Gawd I feel like Becky tonight I remember the "good ole days" LOL,, starting at 6:00 AM to avoid the
heat, last job I did, removing (cutting/dragging/tossing) a tar and
gravel roof, I got sick, bad headache and supertired, had to go and
sleep in the shade and was wiped for a few days. Be careful. It snuck up
on me ridiculously fast *and* I was drinking gallons of water and such
too.

I found a cigarette under the seat in my car the other day. Note: That
very thing blew a prior quit for me.
After much deliberation I threw it out the window. I'd rather litter
than smoke. |

I'm trying to imagine you lighting a cigarette with a turbotorch.
Inside a van, no less. Not exactly a healthy thing to do is it :-)
