You're damn right there - I don't think it was a single moment for me,
more a slowly growing realization that I could actually live without
sucking in nasty poisonous smoke every few minutes or when things got
tough.

I'm a lifelong atheist, or agnostic maybe, and I have (amazingly) made it
through ten wweeks after smoking all my adult life. I didn't lay my
hand on a Good book, I
just kicked that once-powerful demonic fiend in the face every time he
popped up to try to force me back into breathing in smoke.
He's like all bullies, you face up to him and he just melts away!
He can dish it out but he can't take it, the pathetic little bastard.
(I did this sort of thing once in real life, when four would-be muggers
confronted me in the early hours in Manchester, England, in the
Seventies. I won't, however , bore you all with the story)

Hey that's great news!
You kicked that pathetic demon who pops up, to tempt us all in the teeth,
and he's now so much smaller and weaker!
Keep at it, kid. And if it gets bad, do what I do, namely postin here.
The people inhere are just great -they've got me through my worst time
- the first two weeks.

And people like you who are courageous enough to face up to your
addiction have nothing to fear at all! We've beaten the bastard!

Snigger!
Sorry, don't want to offend any genuinely religious types in here!
But to a cynical old bugger like me, all this fundamental stuff in whatever
religion is just hysterical, you know?

Becky hon....the reason its a long-ass thread is because there's a
heck of a lot of people here who actually care about you and your
quit.

You wouldn't believe already!
Seriously, I do seem to have led a somewhat unusual and eventful - and
sometimes terrifying - sort of life.
One or three forums, when I've related some incident in a light humorous
sort of way, readers have expressed doubt about the truthfulness of it.
I can't really blame them; they may well have led a more normal,
peaceful, law-abiding life and find it difficult to credit anyone could
have experienced or done such a thing.
